The Echo (2008)

5 years 2 weeks ago

I think that this year marks the death of Asian horror remakes, they're just not popular anymore and maybe that's why The Echo still hasn't found US distribution because I can find no other explanation (except for perhaps if the sales agency is asking too much money for it and are demanding a theatrical release). You see, I didn't really like Sigaw, the Pinoy horror movie that this movie...

Hidden (2009)

5 years 2 weeks ago

This Norwegian horror hasn't received as much international attention as the other recent Norwegian horrors have but Hidden (aka Skjult), which was released in cinemas in Norway earlier this year to pretty decent numbers, is actually quite good. The movie centers around KK (which is a strange nickname for someone seeing as how KK is also short for fuckbuddy in Norwegian). He was abused as a...

Detour (2009)

5 years 2 weeks ago

After shutting down Slasherpool I haven't been in the mood for reviewing to be honest with you, but I just got back from the opening of Detour (aka Snarveien) and I just have to get this off my chest. Okay so most of you know that Norway is having a horror-boom right now thanks to Cold Prey and we all remember what happened after the horror-boom that Scream brought us back in the late 90s. Yes...

SAW VII in 3D?

5 years 2 weeks ago

According to STYD the early announcement of Saw VII may be due to the fact that the producers are aiming to dish out the next installment in 3D, which would require a little more prep-work than normal. Saw V director David Hackl returns behind the camera, while writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are currently outlining the script with hopes to get started on it in a few...

A new teaser has sprouted online recently, detailing just how action packed and potentially kick ass this sequel may be. Co-writers/directors  Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza return for this second installment, which continues after the events of the first film, as we follow a SWAT team make their way inside the building in an attempt to "control the situation." Check...

Ridley Scott returns for ALIEN prequel!!

5 years 2 weeks ago

According to Variety, Ridley Scott will return to the Alien franchise with a new prequel to be written by Jon Spaihts, who pitched the idea to Twentieth Century Fox. Ridley directed the original 1979 horror-scifi flick, but didn't come back for the sequels, which all steered more towards the action-scifi genres. Not much else is known about the project since a script still has to be written....

Red Velvet (2009)

5 years 3 weeks ago

Have you ever watched a movie that when it’s immediately over, you want to watch again? That just happened to me with Red Velvet; a movie so bizarre, twisted, stylish and hilarious that I just needed to revisit again. After my second viewing I am now comfortable enough to sit down and share you with you the cinematic craziness that is Red Velvet. Essentially, Red Velvet is two movies in...
