HERE IS MY TAKE ON THE FILM, i'll try and keep it short
Being a huge horror fan and actually liking Zombie's first halloween i was excited to see this movie this past friday. After leaving the theater i was HUGELY disappointed.I didn't even mind all the grunting, although at times it was a little too much. There were just too many things that annoyed me about the film. First, if we are once again going to look back in to Michaels past try and get the same child actor that played myers in the first film. Secondly, i dont need to see the same exact scenes that zombie showed in the first film (such as tying people up in chairs with tape.) Thirdly..he did not even get to his sister till about the last half hour of the film. Everything before hand seemed like random killing (which i do not mind since myers is a psychopathic ruthless killer, BUT it made me feel as the film had much less substance as the first film...it felt like a bunch of "filler' moments.) Lastly, i thought the ending was HORRIBLE. Now i do not want to give anything away so from here on out it is a
SPOILER ALERT....
In the end at the shack, your telling me both michael AND his sister were seeing the same exact visions? being held down by her imaginary little brother while grown myers stares blankly just....waiting? REALLY? HORRIBLE

I actually loved the ending, I think he was trying to say that both Michael and Laurie shared a connection to each other, like they felt and saw what the other does (kinda like the telepathic thing between twins you know). and also Rob really wanted to get the same kid to play young michael but he couldn't because Daeg went through a big growth-spirt and he just looked to old to play the little michael that he did in the 1st. I do have to agree with you though I wasn't really feeling the kid they got to replace Daeg, he tried to hard to be emotionless.

I wish I waited for the dvd to come out first before running off the theaters because I'm sure Rob zombie will release an Unrated version on dvd that's gonna rock better than this theatrical cockstain of a movie.

"Halloween (by Rob Zombie) is a remake." False. It is an homage to a classic from the Horror/Terror genre that John Carpenter helped spawn.
"Halloween II is a remake of a sequel." False. It is as cognitive a follow-up that has ever been made to a "slasher flick."

After revamping Michael Meyers into the most fantastic, horrific, psychotic madman ever in his original piece, Rob Zombie has done what no one has ever attempted to do... He has challenged us to think about; What would actually happen to a psychopath within a year's time of his escape from certain death? What would come of a unknown psychiatrist who meets fame so quickly at the expense of others? Would the sibling of a murderous maniac carry the same traits in their bloodline? Would the violent nature of a mentally deranged killer grow to horrific heights?

The answers are all IN this movie; Halloween II. It is the most logical follow up in the history of cinema. Everything that you should never see happen, happens. Everything that is not supposed to happen, happens. Would a non campos mentis, unhinged butcher simply slit a stranger's throat in anger, or completely sever said victim's head with a piece of sharred glass? How would this disturbed slayer survive in the wild after a lifetime of institutionalized quarters, meals, and daily psychoanalysis? What would drive a person to such lengths? What visions do they see in their own mind's eye? Would anyone so hell-bent on the pursuit of one thing, that he slaughters everything that he encounters, ever stop searching until that search was over?

This film is a masterpiece. If you have not seen it, you must. If you have seen it, watch it again and heed the logistics of what Zombie has accomplished.

The only question that remains unanswered after this chef d'oeuvre is this:
Will Zombie pursue the malicious grin that he has left with us, or will he find a way to salvage the desolate feeling that Tommy Lee Wallace gave us after the atrophy, Halloween III: The Season of the Witch?

Ok so I saw the new Halloween film today, and personally in my opinion, I thought it was a decent movie, not great but good, it did keep me entertained. Granted I do have to agree I didn't like how Michael was a grunter in this film, and Sheri Moon Zombie's acting was pretty bad, I liked it. Now for all the Zombie haters out there that are bagging his films, there is one simple solution, DON'T SEE HIS FILMS! yes he isnt the best film maker out there, but he isn't the worst I think we can all agree Uwe Boll is the absolute worst and should be banned from film making lol! In Rob's defense, he never wanted to top John Carpenters brilliant master piece! he even said you cant make a better Halloween film than the original. Now I am a die hard halloween fan, I've seen every movie hundreds of times, in fact the original one actually inspired me to become a film maker (going to school and majoring in flim: script writing and directing). Rob's films are HIS take and vision of how HE wanted michael to be, someone and something that HE would fear, and yes even though Michael was literally a monster in both of these films, he did show a side that was never shown before, a little part of human emotion, you can see it in his eyes and his motions when he see's his sister not only in this sequel but the remake as well (in my opinion of course) Laurie was the only grip of actual emotional feeling he had left. Of course I am just stating my opinion as everyone else but, there are some pros in this film, and there are some really beautiful cinematic shots in this movie that will stand out. True its honestly not for every Halloween fan, but I think Rob did what he wanted to do with HIS vision of Michael Myers.

I saw H2 tonight... well lets say I suffered through H2 tonight, waiting for it to get better. When did Micheal start grunting? Yeah the movie was bloody, thats a plus... he was brutal when he stabbed anyone, the hacks were loud and full of effect... that was it.

I don't think Zombie can make a movie without sticking wifey in there at some point... might I say her acting was for shit in this movie. Was she "Baby" or was she "Mommy"?? (Don't get me wrong I love her in House of 1000 Corpses & The Devil's Rejects. Baby is annoyingly great... Tutty Fuckin Fruity anyone?)

My biggest beef is, Myers is an emotionless killer. Do you remember in the original... "I met this 6-year-old child with this blank, pale emotionless face. And the blackest eyes...the devil's eyes" He didn't love his sister, even though he tried to pass along this reunion photo in the first remake... **Hugs "Laurie" I'm your big bubby** fuck no he wanted her dead. And now with this one... oh lets all be one happy family again. Give me a break, the movie was bad.

There was no need to remake a complete classic. There is no possible way of topping what John Carpenter mastered many years ago.

Lets not forget Rob also got his other ideas (House of 1,000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects) from TCM and as for house(House of 7 corpses).

Rob Zombie is so original, and such a pioneer. Who ever came up with the idea of remaking old
classic horror movies and making a profit off of somebody else's ideas. WOW! What a visionary!!
What if he had his wife act like a whore in every movie he does. Seriously, this guy is a hack!!
He butchered my all time favorite John Carpenter film, and now he's going to make weak ass sequels.
Final Destination is at least original. Maybe he'll remake that and add a rape scene.

if you think every horror movie should be new and completely original then you are just not a horror fan...either that or you're just a dumbass; or both. Zombie is the guy getting paychecks. if he's a "hack" then I guess that makes you the "visionary"? go find your vcr or watch TNT if you wanna see the fucking classics.

As if he's the only one (Quarentine anyone?).
Perhaps his movies are not original ideas, but what he does with them is recreate them with his own visions.
Which movie was his wife a whore. H1000C and Dev.Rej. she was a psycho who occassionally used her sexually as a taunt and that's as far as that character went. In Zombie's Halloween she was a mother who stripped to make money to feed her kids (stripping and whoring are not the same).
He's not the only one profitting from other's ideas - the list of remakes being made and currently in talks is huge. But at least his movies are fun to watch. Cool

I gotta agree with you there. Hollywoods pumping out more remakes than original stories as of late and it's been like that for a bit. Personally with remakes I try to let go of the original and just enjoy the new version, some make it easy, some not so much but the point is what's the point of remaking a movie if you are going to make it 100% the same? If you're gonna go out and redo a movie line for line, shot for shot then why not just digitally remaster the original and put your name on it. I liked Halloween, There are things about the original I like more, however there were improvements in the remake I enjoyed as well. My opinion (without seeing it) is Halloween 2 is prob not going to be good because it's hard to leave the original Halloween mindset and let him take it in an apparent completely different direction. However I'll still give it a look, call it morbid curiousity if you will. I liked House of 1000 and Devils Rejects personally and thought compared to most of the tired mundane crap hollywood had been throwing out there it was a nice change of pace. None the less, Zombies no more a hack than any of the 100 directors out there right know who's trying to "re-imagine" the classics. Within two seconds of looking at the remake catigory on here, it's rather obvious that Zombie's not the first to do a remake, nor will he be the last...

Personally, i'm not looking forward to seeing this movie. I'll go check it out for one reason... to stay true to the character of Michael Myers. He is one of my favorite Horror Movie Characters. I didn't like what Rob Zombie did for the first film. It started out ok, but then he messed it up going toward the end. Then not only that, but the ending was horrible! I was mad as hell. I don't think it's time for a remake of the Halloween series because if you think back to Halloween Resurrection, Michael never died at the end. So, why would you remake a movie, when the killer never died? Don't fix what ain't broken. Same with Friday The 13th, but at least that film ended ok. They did a good job with it. Crazy

hey fright master do you think its too late to shift Halloween 2 to a different date like October 9 or even a November release? so it wont go face Final Destination 4. i love both franchise. and if they dont change it im going to see both =]
