Thanks for doing the interview we truly appreciate you taking some time out! Let's start off by talking a bit about your childhood and what drew you to acting.
I have always been a performer… I did ballet and other dance for thirteen years was always performing on onstage. I got hooked and then started doing commercials and modeling in high school. It all started from there.
Were you ever discouraged at all by the small parts you started out with or were you confident that over time the parts would become bigger and better?
It’s all a process and I have understood that from the beginning. I have enjoyed all my roles, no matter how big or small. I love the work—being on set and acting. The parts have gotten bigger, but I’m still not where I want to be. However I continue to work and keep busy with acting roles and that is what makes me happy.
Up to this point which role has been your favorite?
I don't think I’ve come upon my favorite role yet. I have done a lot of different kinds of work so far- Soap Operas, Sitcoms, Dramas, comedy, action, sci-fi, and now horror. I have had a lot of played a lot of different characters and enjoyed them all. It’s so much fun to be someone else for a while.
As a cult cinema fan I'd like to talk with you a bit about how damn cool it must be for you to be able to work with some of the people you are in Revamped and Blizhniy Boy: The Ultimate Fighter. In these two films alone you're working with a "Who's Who" of 80's action/martial arts cinema! Have you had a chance to meet any of these guys?
Yes I got to work with so many veterans and talented actors I looked up to. And believe me I did pick their brains on set and pick up a few self defence moves!! I have met Gary several years before at my birthday party so it was nice to see him again. Marty Kove plays my father in Revamped so we got to spend a lot of time together on set and he is such a talented actor.
Speaking of Revamped, talk to the readers a bit about the film and the role your character plays.
I play Mary a half vampire- half human… I am one of the female leads in the movie- and I rescue the main character and then introduce him to our half-breed vampire colony. This was the first for me on this movie in a couple ways… It was my first horror movie (and I didn't die- yeah!), first playing a vampire, first playing a young mom, and first playing a virgin. So Mary was quite an interesting character to play. For more about the film & cast visit www.RevampedTheMovie.com
With it being your first horror film – how was the experience? Something you’d consider doing again?
Oh I loved it and would definitely do more horror films. In fact I've been approached about several already!
Do you know what kind of release the film will have?
Revamped is scheduled to be shown on Sci-Fi channel and will be released to DVD / video later this year.
Growing up did you watch any horror films? Can you remember any in particular that you might have enjoyed?
When I was a teenager the teen horror flicks were really making a big comeback. My favorites were "Scream", "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and the "Final Destination" movies. They had all my favorite actors from the teen TV shows I watched.
Aside from acting, you participate in some fantastic charity work -- tell us a bit about that.
My passion is animals. I just love them and always have. I have been a vegetarian for about 4 years now, and a vegan for about 9 months. If more people learned about the conditions of the animals raised for food / testing, I think there would be a lot more vegetarians. For more info on that check out PETA. Some of my favorite charities to support and attend benefits for are Best Friends Animal Society, ASPCA and In Defence of Animals. One day I'd like to be a spokesperson for a great charity like this so I can really be a voice for the animals because they don't have a voice.
As your roles get bigger has the goal for your career grown as well? Have you decided to push further and fight for more?
I think its like a light at the end of the tunnel… as you get further through the tunnel, the light moves further away :) ha-ha. I always want more and am aiming higher.
What are some of the things you like to do after you've wrapped a successful gig? Do you eat massive chilli-cheese hotdog? Do a few laps in a pool? Do you have any rituals or superstitions?
Well I’m a vegan so the Chilli-cheese hot dog thing is definitely out- but a big salad… that's right up my alley! And after that a nap!
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I'd like to be a regular on a TV series and doing films on hiatus.
What advice could you offers fans or aspiring actresses interested in breaking into acting?
If you are interested in doing anything else at all- do that. But if this is the only thing that you want in life than be driven, be patient, and be talented.
