Jenny Wade is an actress that you may come across during a movie and ask 'where have I seen her before?'. Jenny has been in a number of smaller roles in the past until recently with Feast, where she plays the lovable "Honey Pie". Jenny speaks candidly about her role and her experience while filming with Project Greenlight.

How did you get your start in acting?

Well, honestly, I feel that I’m just NOW getting my real “start” in acting, even though I’ve been in the business for 8 years! It’s a long, hard road, this career. People really say it’s all about who you know, or it’s about when opportunity meets talent and luck at te right time. I suppose both of those have some truth to them, but for me, the main element has really been hard-headedness and die-hard persistence. I watch a lot of actors fall along the path who are just tired of it, just tired of not “doing it”. It’s truly a brutal existence sometimes; you just have to want it more than anything.

During filming did you expect Feast to receive a wide theatrical release?

I think everyone involved wanted to believe (and still wants to believe) that, yes! The information we received from the studio seemed to change weekly. We heard a lot of positives and exciting feedback that just didn’t culminate into what we had hoped, and that’s the business we’re in, unfortunately. You never know what the end result of all that hard work will be, whether you have a big budget or a small one. It’s a creative venture that you invest heart and soul into; that is why it’s art, and that is why it hurts so terribly when it’s rejected.

Tell us about your character “Honey Pie” and what her role is in the film.

Oh, little Miss Honey Pie! By all appearances, Honey Pie seems to be a pretty straightforward horror cliché. She’s got the blonde-cleavage-dimwit factor that goes hand-in-hand with every gore-fest. What’s fabulous about her is that you will not get from her what you expect- she pulls the rug out from under that cliché and makes her own rules!

Now you've done some TV as well as film, which do you prefer?

You know, you take it all as it comes. There are cool aspects to both. It’s more about the material than it is about the medium.

What was your overall experience while working on Feast?

Regardless of whatever its ultimate destination is, FEAST has always been very close to my heart. It’s exceptionally rare to be involved creatively with a group of people that live by the same set of mores that you do in a business, and even more rare to truly come to love those people. And that is what I come away with- family.

How did you feel working on a genre film? Were you a bit worried that a horror film might slow your career?

If there was any hindrance in my mind about jumping into this project, it had to do completely with the reality TV aspect of it. I mean, I hear reality TV stars say, “they edited that unfairly!” and now I am much more empathetic!

Who would you consider your biggest influences in and out of acting?

I can’t assign that to any individual. It really comes down to having a strong belief system and putting that into action diligently.

Do you plan to expand your career into other venues; perhaps writing or directing?

I’ve dabbled in the writing a bit, but at this point in my life, I’m already in the deep end with my commitment to acting. I certainly look forward to personal evolution, though, wherever it may take me!

What two things could you tell us about Jenny Wade and what she's like off camera?

Wow, only two things? I feel the pressure to say something really meaningful now.

1) My bullsh** meter is very sensitive, and I am turned on and off rather quickly.
2) Living genuinely is important to me. I seek relationships that are real and won’t settle for less. I am driven. I can be shy.

Tell us about your newest film role and when we can expect to see that released?

I usually leave this part up to IMDb. As of now, I have 3 films coming out in 2007. I’ve been able to go across the board with characters, which has been so much fun! I went into the world of drugs and excess as a party nymph; cut off all my long hair into a pixie to play a pregnant chef, and settled into the Chicago suburbs with the manager of an electronics store. It’s been a busy year and I can’t wait to see what’s to come!

Special thanks goes out to Jenny Wade for the interview, and my buddy Brian "Horror Pimp" Harris.
