PROJECT DETAILS
  • IFC Midnight will distribute in the US.
  • Filmed in Illinois and Wisconsin.
  • Writer/director Anne Hamilton was quoted saying: "We live in a world where concepts that used to guide us in how to live — good and evil, or religious belief or patriotism — are now used so often and so perversely by destructive forces that these concepts have lost their meaning. Yet, we still have to choose what kinds of people we will be and what we will fight for — without certainty. American Fable is about a girl making that choice, and it's a very difficult one. Even she gets blood on her hands."
  • The feature film directorial debut of Anne Hamilton, who was a law school graduate that decided to try filmmaking. She started out as an unpaid intern for Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line, The New World) on his film The Tree of Life. She took what she learned and did a couple shorts before deciding to move on to feature films.
