Amityville: The Awakening


Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother's expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn't telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.

  • After many delays the film will reportedly get an exclusive release on Google Play on October 12th, but it will be free for a limited time. It will then be followed by a limited theatrical run starting October 28th. (9/21/17)
  • Originally rated R for "strong horror violence and for language."
  • Originally had a January 27th 2012, a January 3rd 2014, a January 2nd 2015, an April 15th, an April 1st 2016, a January 6th and June 30th 2017 theatrical release.
  • Fans may recognize actor Cameron Monaghan as "Ian" from the Showtime series Shameless.
  • Director Franck Khalfoun also helmed the Maniac remake.
  • Previously titled The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes and Amityville: The Reawakening.
  • Filming was originally aimed to begin sometime during the Summer of 2011.
  • This is the first film to be produced under the agreement between Miramax and The Weinstein Company to create sequels to some of Miramax's best-known properties.
  • The project was initially going to be found footage, but that idea was dropped.
  • Was originally said to "showcase the events after the time of the original The Amityville Horror book and movie through found footage dating back to 1976."
  • No relation to The Amityville Legacy 3D.
