PROJECT DETAILS:

Marvel recently announced that they're moving forward with a Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage, Green Book, True Detective), which means that plans for this sequel with Wesley Snipes is no longer in development. (7/21/19)

There's another rumor going around that Marvel is indeed developing a new R-rated Blade movie that's said to focus on Blade training his newly found teenage daughter. This would make sense if the studio wants to reboot the franchise with a new younger lead. Keep in mind that these are all rumors at the moment. (3/4/19)

Actor Wesley Snipes is still keeping the dream alive, indicating that there's still a lot of interest and talks going on with Marvel execs, saying: “There are a lot of conversations going around right now and we’re very blessed to have the enthusiasm and interest in something coming from that world. We’ve created two projects that fit perfectly into this world and, when people see them, I think they’re only going to have a problem with deciding which one they love the most. All the main execs [at Marvel] and my team, we’ve been discussing for the past two years. Everyone’s enthusiastic about it, everybody gets it. But they got a business to run and they gotta square the things that they gotta figure out before they can get to it, I guess. In the meantime, we got a business to run and our own slate of things to do so. But the next time you see something in [Blade], mark my words: What we did before is child’s play compared to what we can do now." (8/30/18)

As expected, Marvel President Kevin Feige shut down the recent rumors of another Blade at the NY Comic-Con, specifically commenting on what Kate Beckinsale, saying: "They [the ‘Underworld’ producers] did ask a long time ago and I think our answer was, ‘No, we’ll do something with ‘Blade’ at some point.’ That’s still the answer. We still think he’s a great character. He’s a really fun character. We think this movie going into a different side of the universe would have the potential to have him pop up, but between the movies, the Netflix shows, the ABC shows there are so many opportunities for the character to pop up as you’re now seeing with Ghost Rider on ‘AGENTS of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ that rather than team up with another studio on that character let’s do something on our own. What that is? Where that will be? We’ll see. There is nothing imminent to my knowledge." (10/11/16)

Treat this as another rumor, but Marvel may actually be developing another Blade movie or project in general. Actress Kate Beckinsale was asked at NY Comic-Con if there were plans of having a Blade/Underworld crossover, in which she replied: "No. We had that idea. No. They're busy. They're doing something with Blade." So they may be developing some kind of Blade project, whether it's a sequel, reboot, or a new TV-series at the moment it's all just rumors and speculation. (10/09/16)

Once again not much to report other than the fact that Wesley Snipes is still interested in returning and voiced it on Twitter, saying: "When it comes to another BLADE, there's always a possibility" and "Balls in Marvels court..." There have also been rumors floating around recently that the franchise may come back in series form on Netflix, but so far these are all just rumors. (5/27/16)

At the moment this project is merely rumored, as nothing official has been released except for talks from actor Wesley Snipes, who has reportedly expressed interest in returning to the role. Snipes also claims to have met with Marvel (who owns the Blade property) and discussed the possibility of bringing the character back for another movie. (8/13/15)

Actor Wesley Snipes has been quoted in a couple interviews detailing meetings with Marvel about possibly doing another Blade. Here's what was said: "Well, we’ve had some discussions. We have had very positive and favorable discussions about the Blade character and other things they have in mind. We’ll see where it goes. For those Blade fans, if we never reprise Blade, I have another character that will stand toe to toe with Blade any day. It’s not done yet." (8/13/15)
