PROJECT DETAILS
- The project is still in the talking stages, as original creators Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez are interested in returning to the films, but it's all up to Lionsgate, who owns the rights.
- Currently, Eduardo Sánchez revealed that there is no first-person narrative in the story, but that may change somewhere down the line.
- Co-creator Eduardo Sánchez was intereviewed recently where he revealed that this sequel would ignore the previous installment, saying: "I actually liked the sequel but at the same time it exists in a world outside of the movie. So if we want to do a sequel to 'Blair Witch Project,' we have to stay in that world, which 'Book of Shadows' didn't stay in that world. 'Book of Shadows' created a different world. It's like if the sequel to 'Jaws' started with shots of people lined up to see 'Jaws' in the movie theater. For 'Book of Shadows' it worked in a certain way but to me my biggest gripe with Artisan was you shouldn't have called it 'Blair Witch 2.' It would've been fine to call it Blair Witch Chronicles. It wasn't really a sequel to our movie. so it would be a direct sequel to our film living in that mythology of Burkittsville, being possessed, haunted by something."
- It's said that original actors Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams will have small roles in this film.
- Writers Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez have said that the film would ignore the previous sequel and take place shortly after the events of the first film.
- Original actors Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams may have brief cameo appearances in one form or another.
- It's said that the film would rely less on characters speaking directly to the camera, and more on something called "mixed first-person".
- The original script was said to be a prequel set in 1786 where the Blair Witch legend originated from. The premise was written as follows: "This film chronicles the events that led to the township of Blair driving an accused witch named Elizabeth Kedward into the woods, and the subsequent hauntings that plaqued the town for decades after her supposed death."
- A script was written and sent to Lionsgate (who owns the rights) back in 2004, with hopes of it going into production, but it never happened.
- This project has been in talks for almost a decade.

I would be stoked to see what they could do with a 3rd movie!!
Was the 2nd movie a masterpiece? No, but it wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be.
The first one is great, and has one of the creepiest endings to a movie I have ever seen. Even if you chalk the 2nd up as a failure, the franchise is 1-1, may as well give em another shot.
If they plan on going back to the style from the first movie I would be stoked to see it.

i wanted a sequel to the blair witch for sooo long. I literally watched 14 minutes of blair witch 2 and was about to samsh my tv screen. it was terrible. such a poor exuse for a film. this sounds interesting. i like the original idea that it would take place in 1786, but the idea now is cool too. as long as they have that low budget camera, anything is possible! btw what is "mixed first person?" that sounds like something that will make this film good or could ruin it.
I've seen the first two and because I've seen them I'll probably have to see this just to check it out.
Haha I remember when they were trying to sell this as a true story and then they made a sequel and everyone was like WTF hahahaha I still know ignorant people that think this is a true story and real footage. Oh well this sound be interesting then
this whole blair witch thing is a joke! the first one sucked the second was so bad the director whishes it was never made and now a third! there is no were to go with this if u add people traveling there it ruins whats left of the first one and if you do other whise its a remake and a remake of this is sure to suck HARD!!!!
Okay first of all the first one was pretty good for one of the first handheld camera films ever made. The second one sucked, I watched it and wanted to choke myself during most of it. To make a third one I feel nervous about it to make it good they should act like the second one never existed take the three off the end and give it a different title and make it look like it was an amateur filmed movie like the first one. Also since it is 2010 they could add some cool special effects kinda like Paranormal Activity but better and make the movie scary. Now if they do all of that I would enjoy seeing the film even tho if they make it a piece of crap I will see it anyways just to see it.
Im excited about this, it should have been done a long time ago. The first movie was a great original idea and was scary a bit.
I remember going to see the first blair witch and liking it but after that you can't make a sequel. I just signed up for the blair rewards program and bought some flowers for my sisters bday through them
I liked the first and dont remeber much of the second besides it wasnt nearly as good as the first! and what was with the change in camera view, personally i liked the first person view, it seemed more real and i hope they keep it, if so i will deff check it out!
I liked the idea of the prequel in 1786, the sequel sucked and if this is done right I believe this franchise could pick up steam again, I always enjoyed the lore.

Blair Witch was amazing, it was a horror film for the thinking person those of us with imaginations. I found out very quickly that most people don't have imaginations and prefer not to think at all (if they even can)... hence the backlash bandwagon. I, however, thought it was brilliant. When I went to the see the sequel I didn't immediately like it, but bought it when the Blair Witch Experience Box Set came out (I really wanted the necklace). Upon a second viewing I realized that it was really, really good... not so much a sequel as it is an original idea based on the lore created in the first film. When I realized that it was far more original than just some ordinary sequel I liked it for its own merits. Big fan of the series and am really looking forward to another one.
I watched the first, and you're right it takes imagination to get through. You have to imagine you're watching something else so you can stay awake long enough to get through that waste of film. I'm not some mindless moron. The only reason so many people saw this was because they were under the impression it was real. Which cmon.... you had to be pretty stupid to think this shit really happened. I hope they don't make this it'll be a waste of everyone's time and money. Let this shitty movie die now...

Omg Lets hope this stays in talks and then turns to whispers then just is forgotten. BW was bad the sequel was worse, the third shouldn't even be considered. MAKE THE BAD MOVIES GO AWAY!!!!!
