PROJECT DETAILS
  • IFC Midnight will distribute in the US.
  • Filmed in Portland, Oregon.
  • Eli Roth had a recent interview where he reveals his thoughts after seeing the latest cut of the remake, saying: "It’s great. And I’m saying that honestly. I saw it and I was blown away. I couldn’t believe it. Travis Zariwny the director did a fantastic job. What Travis did was so smart – he kept the original script, but he changed the deaths, so all the kills are different. You don’t know how they’re going to come. I was watching it, and he didn’t tell me that he did that and I was so happy he did – because nobody wants to see a re-do that’s the same thing that they already know. So he leads you in one direction, with the audience thinking that the know what’s coming, then puts a fantastic spin on it. And it looks awesome – it’s a really fun movie. I’m happily surprised at how it’s turned out." (4/13/15)
  • Eli Roth was quoted saying: "Travis had an amazing vision for my original script, and as a scary movie fan I really wanted to see it. I almost see this like re-staging a play, and I’m excited to see what ideas Travis and the cast bring to it. They’re all fans of the original and want to make a film that’s a new classic and I believe they will."
  • Original writer/director Eli Roth will serve as executive producer.
  • Apparently to save production time, the filmmakers are using the exact same script that Eli Roth and Randy Pearlstein wrote for the original film.
  • This is a remake of the 2002 film from Eli Roth.
