PROJECT DETAILS
  • FOX has hired Jack Stanley to script the project. (3/31/14)
  • Original writer Max Landis recently revealed that he's now off the project due to creative differences and the studio has enlisted new writers. Apparently while Landis wanted to go a different direction than the first, the studio wanted to simply recreate the first. (7/18/13)
  • Writer Max Landis spoke a bit about the project in an interview recently, saying: "You can’t deny cars being thrown in the air in Seattle. You saw all those helicopters. The world changed. That’s the end of Chronicle. And things are going to be different now. They can’t possibly cover up what happened." He added that the Matt character (played by Alex Russell) will return: "I loved Matt, and I felt really bad for him because I understood just how emotionally lazy he is and how he doesn’t really do what he’s doing. And that’s why I’m putting him through hell in Chronicle 2."
  • Since a script hasn't been written yet, it's not known if any survivors from the first movie will be back for the sequel.
  • It's not known whether the sequel will incorporate any found footage.
  • No word if director Josh Trank will return to direct, but it seems unlikely as he has other potential projects on his plate.
  • Previous writer Max Landis returns to script.
  • The obvious sequel to the surprise hit found footage dark superhero film Chronicle.
