A loving father dons a clown outfit, wig, bulbous nose and pancake makeup to entertain at his son's sixth birthday after the clown-for-hire is a no-show. Unable to take off the clown garb, dad's personality changes in horrific fashion. He and his family race to break the curse of the evil outfit before he undergoes a complete transformation into a homicidal killer with over-sized shoes.

PROJECT DETAILS
- Roth had this to say about the project: "It's new territory to make this a version of The Fly, where this guy can feel himself changing, blacking out only to find blood all over his clown suit. You're sympathetic toward a monster until the monster actually takes over."
- Producer Eli Roth is aiming for a Hard R-rating.
- The film is based on a faux trailer by Jon Watts that appeared online in October 2010, where it depicted Eli Roth's name, as if he were involved with the project when in fact, at the time he'd never heard of it or its filmmakers. This eventually garnered the attention of Roth, whom liked what he saw and surprisingly agreed to fund a full length feature.

clowns can be scary to begin with. you add a killer clown, who knows what will happen. for all we know, there could be a carnival full of killer clowns

Basically means to push the boundaries of the R-rating, whether it be lots of graphic violence or gore, etc..
well hard-R doesnt prevent the movie from sucking ass, you know that.
I think this might take It's crown as the king of scary clowns
Personally, I like clowns imported from outer space to do the killing, but I guess I'll give this a go.
Does anybody know if this is going to theaters or straight to DVD
