Producer Peter Safran gave a brief update on the project, stating that production will likely begin next year. Here's what he had to say: "It's actually coming along great. David Lindsay Johnson is working on the screenplay, and I feel pretty confident they will have that one up and running next year." (9/11/18)
James Wan has been quoted stating that the film will likely take place sometime in the 1980s.
Producer Peter Safran was once quoted saying that the film would avoid the "supernatural possession in a house with a family in peril" formula again.
While Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson have yet to sign on to the project as Lorraine and Ed Warren, it's seems pretty likely they will once the script is finished.
David Leslie Johnson (Orphan, Conjuring 2) returns to co-write the script.
James Wan returns to co-write and produce, but it's said that he will unlikely direct this time.
This is the third film in the popular Conjuring franchise.
