Creature
An ex-Navy seal (Mehcad Brooks), his girlfriend (Serinda Swan) and their friends head out on a road trip to New Orleans. The group decides to stop at a roadside convenience store owned by Chopper (Sid Haig), who tells them the tale of Lockjaw, a fabled god-like creature who is half-man, half-alligator. The legend has it that an inbred local man by the name of Grimley (Daniel Bernhardt) lost his family to a monstrous white alligator, which then drove him to madness and some believe he was transformed into that very creature that now haunts the depths of the swamps.
Their curiosity peaked, the group decides to play along with the local tourist trap and journey deep into the backwoods to find the old dilapidated cabin which is supposed to be the birthplace of the creature. As they set-up camp for the night, their faith is put to the test when Lockjaw turns out to be more than just a myth and they realize the locals are hiding a horrifying secret that jeopardizes them all.

PROJECT DETAILS
- The film's director Fred Andrews didn't take too kindly to the movie's negative response from critics, reffering to them as "bottom feeders" among other things. You can read more on that from an interview with the director here.
- The film received a theatrical run to over 1500 screens, but only earned around $300,000 from its release, making it the worst opening ever for a film released to 1500 or more screens.

I have the movie on dvd and i would have to say its not that bad at all.I had a few beers in me and had a great time with it.I can honestly say i never thought of hatchet the first time while watching this. The characters are very basic and i expected that.I also found the story to be typical for a creature movie. It has a backstory filling you in on the creatures folklore. Also there is a nice twist that brings it all full circle by movies end.Over all the movie want blow you away.It has its flaws but a 6 out of 10 i would say.
it was an OK low budget horror flick. it kind of reminded me of a cross between a 70s sexplotation flick and a cheese ball 80s horror -sex fest. it was hard to get through though. 5 out of 10 for me.
That certain respected people in the underground horror world recommended this awful excuse for a B movie is a little frightening. It wants to be Hatchet so bad, but can't even seem to find the meager means to halfheartedly rip it off. Yet somehow this was cool enough to get a minor theatrical release? Perhaps it was assumed that the lack of convincing violence (plenty of cutaways though) would be easy to forget so long as they've got Sid Haig and some tits.
Exactly my thoughts. People don't know what good movies are anymore. This failure of a creature feature/wannabe Hatchet was just an excuse to show a small amount of nudity and gore with loads of underlying hints of incest throughout by almost every horribly written crap character.
Any word on a DVD release? I've heard so many bad things about this I want to see it
Just added the release and artwork.
So Im assuming you've seen this, how bad really is this?
Nah, I haven't seen it, and I probably never will.
man this movie was total horeshit! bad acting, directing, special effects and more. i keep dozing off thru half of it. a couple of nice tit shot's don't make up for an one and a half of crap! and who edited this thing, it seemed to be all over the place. spare yourself and just watch "hatchett", it was way more bloodier and fun.
garbage
I do love a good creature-feature and this one has a HATCHET feel to it, so I'm excited about this.
Is it just me or does this not look half bad?
