PROJECT DETAILS
  • According to Stephen King, Cujo will have a brief cameo in the film, saying: "If viewers who are familiar with my work look very closely, they might see Cujo. Keep an eye out for Cujo in New York City."
  • It's said that the film isn't able to meet it's post-production deadline, so they're opting to push the release date from February 17th to Summer 2017. Apparently there's still a lot of extensive visual effects that needs to be taken care of and instead of increasing the $60-million budget to make things go faster they're simply pushing the release. (11/3/16)
  • Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods) plays "Pimli, the right-hand man of the Man in Black."
  • Jackie Earle Haley plays "Sayre, a menacing humanoid who is the vampire leader and kowtows to no one."
  • Previously had a January 13th and a July 28 2017 theatrical release.
  • A young actor by the name of Tom Taylor will play the character "Jake Chambers."
  • Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) is in negotiating to star in the female lead role of "Tirana."
  • Idris Elba will play "good guy gunslinger Roland Deschain."
  • Matthew McConaughey will play "the villainous Man in Black."
  • It's reported that after Nikolaj Arcel and Anders Thomas Jensen rework the latest script the studio will start casting the leads. (7/11/15)
  • Danish director Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) will helm the project.
  • When Universal Pictures was developing this it had a May 17th 2013 theatrical release set.
  • It's said that this would be the first "in a series of movies". The studio also plans to have a complementary TV series that would supposedly bridge the gap between movies.
  • Previously Javier Bardem and Russell Crowe were a couple names reportedly interested in starring as lead character "Roland Deschain."
  • J. J. Abrams was once attached to the project.
  • This project has been in development for almost a decade, moving from Universal Pictures to Warner Bros. before recently landing with Sony Pictures.
  • This film is said to be primarily based on the first novel in The Dark Tower series of books by Stephen King.
