Metallica front man James Hetfield plays "Officer Bob Hayward, a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his car, but wisely suspecting much worse."

Jim Parsons plays "Larry Simpson, the lead prosecutor in 1979 Miami trial that finally convicted Bundy."

Kaya Scodelario plays "Carole Ann Boone, the ex-wife of notorious serial killer Ted Bundy (Zac Efron)."

Jeffrey Donovan plays "Utah defense attorney John O'Connell, Bundy's first lawyer."

Grace Victoria Cox plays "Carol Daronch, a girl who survived Ted’s kidnapping attempt and later ID’s him in court."

Angela Sarafyan plays "Joanna, a close friend of Bundy’s longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer."

John Malkovich plays "Judge Edward Cowart, who presided over the serial killer’s 1979 trial, sentencing him to death."

Lily Collins plays Bundy's longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer.

On Zac Efron's role as Ted Bundy, one of the film's producer's was quoted saying: "I have been trying to work with Zac Efron for a long time. From his dramatic turn in Paperboy to his hilarious performance in Neighbors, he continues to impress audiences and critics alike with his extraordinary versatility and range. We couldn't be more excited to see him in this amazing role."

Zac Efron plays the notorious Ted Bundy.

The film is reportedly told from the point of view of Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy’s longtime girlfriend.
