PROJECT DETAILS:

While it was originally thought that each film in the trilogy would debut a month apart on Netflix, it turns out that it'll instead only be a week apart in July for each movie. (5/19/21)

This film, along with its sequels, were originally intended to be released theatrically, but "that went sideways because the Disney release schedule is always so crowded, the pandemic shuttered movie theaters, and the subject matter is scarier than traditional Mouse fare." Instead, the films will premiere next Summer on Netflix. It's said that each film will debut a month apart. (8/11/20)

Filmed in Atlanta back-to-back with the sequels.

Gillian Jacobs plays "a maintenance worker in a summer camp."

It's said that Kiana Madeira (Really Me, Sacred Me, The Flash) and Olivia Welch (Modern Family, Agent Carter) will be "playing gay teenagers trying to navigate their rocky relationship when they’re targeted by the crazy horrors of their small town, Shadyside." Apparently they will appear in all three Fear Street movies, but as different characters.

Leigh Janiak is heading the writer's room, where she will oversee the scripts that will be written by Zak Olkewicz (Lights Out), who is working on the 2nd script and Silka Luisa, who is working on the third script. Kyle Killen wrote the first one, which Janiak and her partner Phil Graziadei will tackle. It's said that each script will take place in different time periods.

Directed by Leigh Janiak (Honeymoon), who will also rewrite the script and direct the next two films in the trilogy.

One of the producer's had a brief interview, where he claims to have the "coolest idea ever," saying: "I can't tell you much, but we're working on it really hard. We have the coolest idea ever for it. It's a hard thing to say in this business, but I think it's never been done. We're working on it really hard. I hope in the next few months we'll have something to announce, but we've got some cool, cool stuff for a franchise." (5/15/17)

Scripted by Kyle Killen (The Beaver, Scenic Route).

Aimed at horror-loving teenagers the Fear Street series took place in the fictional city of Shadyside, Ohio. "Some stories feature the kind of supernatural activity found in Stine’s Goosebumps series, but most of the Fear Street books are simply murder mysteries that offer more violence than Goosebumps."

This is one of three Fear Street movies being made that are apparently all connected and it's rumored that they will each be released within months of each other.

Based on the R.L. Stine teenage fiction series of books.
