Returning home after the mysterious death of her mother, an estranged daughter struggles to reconnect with her brother and escape the curse of the faceless spirit who haunts them.
The movie originally had a March 2018 VOD release, but Sony served a cease-and-desist order to stop the release as it claimed that it was a rip-off of the Slender Man character, which it apparently had the exclusive rights to. Production company Phame Factory then filed a lawsuit seeking a judgement that its promotion and distribution of Flay didn’t infringe on Sony’s copyrights. It appears that they won and finally reached an agreement with Sony, so they can finally release the movie. (2/22/19)
The film originally had a March 6th VOD release, but was suddenly pulled from the schedule and the FB page posted the following message: "We want to let you all know that we are postponing the release of Flay due to unforeseen circumstances. We're working hard to resolve things and will keep you updated on a new release date."

Eric Pham is an FX artist-turned director.
Director Eric Pham was quoted saying: "I’ve always been fascinated with ghost stories and the mythologies behind ghosts and spirits. I see Flay as a contemporary mashup of the Japanese legend of the Noppera-bo, or faceless ghost, and Native American legends."
