PROJECT DETAILS
- This is currently in the "talking stages," as Universal has signed a multi-picture deal with Guillermo del Toro with hopes to direct, however, the man has so much on his plate that it likely won't happen for a number of years.
- Guillermo del Toro has been quoted saying that he plans to focus around an adventure story that involves the monster as opposed to his creation itself.
- This is one of many films from the old Universal Pictures archive that they plan to remake.
- The obvious remake of the classic 1931 film starring Boris Karloff.

Great, another Frankenstein remake. Del Toro is going to bury himself if he makes it. It's true that the old 70's comic book had a new idea of the monster as a quasi-superhero, but movies don't tell stories the same way comic books do. Lets face it Hollywood, it's over. Unlike Dracula, which has survived countless remakes, Dr F's monster is quite dead. Boris Karloff was simply BORN to be the character. Mel Brooks and the Hammer boys made a few bucks off it and then, nothing.
If this ever gets going....please dont ruin it
I actually thought that Mary Shelley's Frankenstein(in the 90's) with De Niro was actually quite good and one of the better versions. But that might have been becoz of De Niro making the monster a character instead of just the "center piece" of the movie.
But this version sound very interesting. Wonder how many years it will take to get this going, if it moves on at all.
