No official plot yet, but the original told the story of a mad scientist named Dr. Frankenstein, whose obsession to reanimate the dead using various body parts brings forth a being that's forced to live with the fact that he is a monster.

Jacob Elordi (Euphoria, Saltburn) joins the cast, replacing Andrew Garfield, who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
Andrew Garfield, Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth are all in early talks to star in this film, which Guillermo del Toro is reportedly still writing. While they have not officially signed on, it's said that they've met with del Toro and have agreed to take part in the film, but keep in mind that nothing is set until they've officially signed on, so the cast may still change. Guillermo del Toro once said that he plans to focus around an adventure story that involves the monster as opposed to his creation itself. No word if that is still the case.
This project has been in development with Guillermo del Toro for well over a decade.
This is a remake of the classic 1931 film starring Boris Karloff.
