Growl

A traveling underground fight club called 'The Brawlers' arrive at a derelict ghost town tucked away in the Colorado Rockies. They meet the town's only residents, the Maxilla family who want to buy on to the fight card. But the Maxilla family's true intentions for the Brawler crew is soon revealed in teeth and claws. Some will be hunted, some will be feed, and some will become part of the family...whether they like it or not.

PROJECT DETAILS:

More info on this dead project was recently discovered thanks to a promotional trailer that was released a few years ago (seen below). According to the details, the trailer was shot for potential investors in order to secure proper financing for the film. That explains the screenshots that floated around the net over a decade ago when this was still in development. Sadly, by the time they secured financing, writer/director Sxv'leithan Essex suddenly died due to a brain aneurysm, thus, ending the project. (12/12/23)

The film supposedly began shooting in LA back in 2010, with an estimated release for sometime in 2011. However it's believed that it never finished filming (likely due to financial issues) and now it's development is unknown. Unless someone from the production can clear up what happened or a press release is announced, we'll have to assume that it's now in some sort of development hell stage. (6/5/14)

Actor Victor Webster (Melrose Place) plays Dallas the leader of the wolf pack.

Kiefer Sutherland is said to be in talks to join the cast once he's finished on Lars Von Trier's Melancholia.

Fans may recognize actress Katee Sackhoff from the hit sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica and recently on FOX's 24.

According to writer/director Sxv'leithan Essex this is the first in a planned trilogy, which will also be accompanied by a prequel graphic novel and videogame that sets up the events and characters in Growl 2.

It's said that this will be a highly character driven film.

Described as "Fight Club versus werewolves".
