PROJECT DETAILS
Originally had a March 2nd 2012 theatrical release.
Actress Gemma Arterton briefly spoke about her character in the film, saying: "Gretel’s quite wild. She’s super cool, and violent,’ Gemma added, describing the action as Tarantino-esque. ‘She has a crossbow, she headbutts people, folk get decapitated, noses get bitten off. It’s so ridiculous that it’s funny, but I wouldn’t mess with her."
Peter Stormare will play a "crooked Lawman".
Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) will play Hansel.
Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) will play Gretel.
Noomi Rapace (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) was originally thought to be playing Gretel.
This will be in 3D.
Producer Adam McKay had this to say about the style of the film: "..it's got kind of like a steampunk vibe mixed with a little bit of a Goth edge and hyper-cartoon violence like Kick-Ass and all set in a very specific world. It's not a comedy. Although, you could say Kick-Ass had some really funny stuff in it. It's a comedy in that sense. It's like a Sam Raimi-type horror movie, like Evil Dead II, only a little nastier, a little more modern."
It's said that the film will have modern technology, but be set in a more classic old-timey backdrop.
Adam McKay and Will Ferrell (Anchorman, Step Brothers) will produce via their Gary Sanchez Prods. moniker.
This would mark Tommy Wirkola's (Dead Snow) US directorial debut.
I can see Hansel & Gretel going after the witch that tried to kill them. It would be interesting to see if the old witch would remember these kids all grown up

I agree, as long as Will Ferrell isn't acting in this, it has a 50/50 chance of being decent. Maybe when a teaser or some pics start showing up, we'll be able to have a better idea on which direction this is going.
In a way i'm kinda looking forward to seeing this movie. I met Charles Band at a Full Moon convention at the Varsity theatre in Minneapolis a few years back, and told him that it would be cool if they made a movie based on Hansel and Gretyl. Of course my idea was way diff., but I want to see what they do with the idea. I thought it should be more like The evil Dead meets the Texas chainsaw Massacre. I could go into more details, but we'll have to see what they decide to do with it.

Fuck! I am thoroughly disappointed by the release date getting pushed back by almost a full year! This has killed my buzz on such a ridiculous level.

Their costumes look pretty good.
This seems like it could be good but chances are ita gonna get slapped with a PG-13 rating
based on true events!

So longs as Will Ferrel isn't actually in the movie, I will see it
after several hours of headbanging against hard, metallic objects, i still can't fathom this movie concept.
