This project was announced back in 2008 and was moving fast with several names involved and specifically with J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage, A Monster Calls, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) directing. However, the studio apparently didn't like the scripts (which supposedly strayed very far from the novel) and the project essentially remained in limbo until they lost the rights. Meanwhile, everyone involved moved on to other projects, leaving this in development hell. (11/18/22)
