PROJECT DETAILS
  • Originally said to have a March 28th 2017 release. (3/21/17)
  • According to actor Paul T. Taylor (new Pinhead) the film will receive a March 2017 release, though at the moment it's unclear whether that will be VOD, DVD or both. (11/23/16)
  • Filmed in Oklahoma City.
  • Writer/director Gary Tunnicliffe had a recent interview, where he revealed details on the project, saying: "This is very much a Hellraiser movie connected at the very core. It wasn’t a script that was adapted in anyway; this script was conceived, written and re-written as a Hellraiser movie. It is different from Hellraiser movies before, since it involves a new mechanism in conjunction with the box for the gathering of souls, and that introduces us to these new characters. But it still very much operates within the mythos of a ‘world within our world’ that I have always felt is the mainstay of Clive’s (Barker) work."
  • On the topic of the Cenobites, he adds... "some of the characters aren’t really ‘Cenobites’ per se – they aren’t the members of the ‘order of the gash’ we are used to. I don’t want to say too much at this point but we discover that Hell actually has several factions and all have different looks. The Cenobites we have in the movie (Pinhead, Chatterer and the Stitch Twins) are the ‘sharp end of the spear,’ so to speak."
  • On the topic of Pinhead, he had this to say: "What I can reveal is this is a very no nonsense Pinhead, no glib one-liners, he’s a little leaner and a little meaner. We especially tried to incorporate this into the make-up and costume; the cuts are deeper, the pins a little longer, his eyes are completely black and wardrobe is a little sleeker and more visceral. Someone on set described him as the ‘bad ass’ version of Pinhead. Paul (Taylor) certainly relished the role and gave him an icy demeanor."
  • And lastly on the story... "We tried to make the main story (the serial killer story) as compelling as the Hellraiser/Hell elements. If we can make a film that will horrify and shock without all the Hell stuff…then hopefully we’re on to a winner. Our mantra has become Se7en meets The Cell, whilst trying to innovate, not replicate."
  • It looks like an actor named Paul T. Taylor will be playing Pinhead. Paul started out doing voice work for anime before turning to acting in a lot of small roles in various feature films and television programs, like Sin City as an "Assistant DA," the Prison Break series as a "Standing Guard," Soul Men as a "Hotel Manager," and the Friday Night Lights series as a "Pageant Host."
  • Heather Langenkamp plays "the chain-smoking ‘Landlady’ who snorts obscenities to the police."
  • Damon Carney plays "Detective Sean Carter."
  • Randy Wayne plays "Detective David Carter."
  • Alexandra Harris plays  "Detective Christine Egerton."
  • John Gulagher (director of Feast and Piranha 3DD) will play a Cenobite called "The Assessor."
  • Makeup FX artist Mike Jay Regan will play "Chatterer."
  • Andi Powers plays one of the three "Jury, who were described as naked, perfectly beautiful girls with have faces that have been shredded away; blood, bone, muscle, sinew and teeth exposed. They pass the horrific verdicts onto all offending mortals."
  • Jeff Fenter plays a character named "Karl Watkins."
  • Helena Grace Donald plays a character named "Jophiel."
  • Grace Montie plays a character named "Crystal Lanning, a beautiful socialite who is never far from her beloved little dog."
  • Writer/director Gary Tunnicliffe was recently quoted saying: "This is not a simple recycling of the HELLRAISER formula; this is a film that will boast some of the strangest, most bizarre, horrific and thought provoking sequences ever seen in a horror film, a horror film that owes it’s inspiration to the works of Heironymous Bosch, and Francis Bacon as well as Cronenberg, Fincher and Lynch as well as obviously and foremost Clive Barker and I have to thank Bob Weinstein, Matthew Signer, Stu Arbury, Scoop Wasserstein and the rest of the team at Dimension for helping me and for being brave enough to let me do what I want to do…which is to simply create a horror film that flat out horrifies." Adding... "I think we have a fun script here an opportunity with an amazing cast and crew to give you all something that feels a little familiar, a little different, completely terrifying and is a worthy part of the HELLRAISER Canon….. oh and of course if you want blood?…. well you’ve got it!"
  • Apparently Pinhead will be in the film, but he will be played by a different actor who is reportedly a "classically trained stage and film actor who brings a great physical presence and more than a hint of Peter Cushing and Ralph Fiennes. I can’t wait to get him bound in leather, gridded up and in front of the camera and on screens!"
  • A casting call went out for the following:
  • HUGE BOUNCER - Male, over 6'3". Huge, burly, muscular and imposing. This behemoth of a man causes terror in the eyes of Watkins.
  • GYMNAST or ACROBAT - Female, 5'0" - 5'2", over 18. Must be a skilled gymnast or acrobat, willing to wear a tight-fitting costume in a very gory scene.
  • RESTAURANT PATRONS - Males and females, 21- 60.  These are patrons in an upscale or mid-scale restaurant/bar.
  • Heather Langenkamp (Nancy from the A Nightmare on Elm St.) will have a small role in the film, saying: "I actually have an opportunity to play a small part in Hellraiser. I’m so excited about it. I go next week to do the shooting. The script is amazing, and that I got the part is something that I find incredible."
  • Writer/director Gary Tunnicliffe has worked on the FX for all the previous Hellraiser installments, starting with the third and also wrote the previous film in the series.
  • Doug Bradley confirmed recently that he nor Clive Barker will be involved with the project in any way.
  • Apparently this project started off as a "Hellraiser inspired" film that Gary Tunnicliffe wanted to get off the ground in 2012/2013. Titled Judgement, the failed kickstarter ended in 2013 and it's believed that Dimension Films (feeling the heat from possibly losing the sequel rights) worked with Tunnicliffe to eventually turn it into an actual Hellraiser sequel.
  • It's believed that Dimension Films has moved forward with this secret Hellraiser sequel in their attempt to keep the sequel rights to the franchise. This is the same reason why we received the incredibly rushed and low-budgeted Hellraiser: Revelations in 2011, which was also the first film in the series to not have actor Doug Bradley as Pinhead.
  • Reportedly budgeted at $500k USD.
  • No relation to the Hellraiser remake that's still in development.
