On the street, they call it "soy sauce." It's a paranormal, psychoactive drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. Its users drift across time and dimensions, but some who come back are devoid of all humanity. While most of Earth's inhabitants remain blissfully oblivious to its threat. Make no mistake, an otherworldly invasion is under way, and mankind needs to be saved. Enter John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. How can these guys possibly be expected to rescue mankind from certain destruction?
Alternate synopsis: It's a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. On the street they call it Soy Sauce, and users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can't.
The first footage from the flick will premiere at 2011's Fantastic Fest before the showing of Penumbra.
Fans may recognize actor Angus Scrimm, who plays the Tall Man from the Phantasm films.
Doug Jones (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy 2) plays character "Roger North."
Daniel Roebuck plays a character named "Largeman."
Glynn Turman plays a Detective in the film.
Paul Giamatti plays a "reporter that the lead character is telling his story to."
Clancy Brown plays a "supernatural expert."
Though he should need no introduction, fans may remember writer/director Don Coscarelli as creator of the Phantasm series, and more recently, Bubba Ho-Tep.
Based on the book with the same name by David Wong.
I can't wait to see this movie! The book was so funny. I laughed out loud the entire time I read it! Great story too.
The trailer is good but it doesn't even scratch the surface of how messed up and funny the story is (which is a good thing because you will all be surprised).

I thought this movie would be about a hunt for someone named John because he was a killer or an alien. Turns out I was way off. Hope this movie turns out to be good

This movie looks pretty cool. It seems deserving of two viewings. Once sober and once under the influence of a hallucinatory narcotic. And it's good to see Doug Jones in a role that doesn't involve full body make-up.

I'm really liking the sound of this movie. Hope it turns out really good. But I'm getting a Jack Brooks meets Tucker & Dale vs Evil meets I Sell the Dead vibe to it... which isn't bad, just a little less creative then it should be. And the title gives something away... but, that might end up being the funniest part of the movie.

The concept sound pretty cool, though I can't help but feel the end has somehow been spoiled for me.
After reading the project details, this sounds like it could be a winner. Man, future drugs are pretty intense and more deadly.
You should try some Nuke
Intensely excited about some new Coscarelli. Don't screw this up please.
