H.P. Lovecraft are really going to like this movie and I am glad they are actually making a movie based on Lovecrafts Cthulhu.
Some things just shouldn't be made visual- Lovecraft's writings are so gutteral and paint such a dark picture in your imagination that trying to emulate that onto the big or small screen just ain't gonna do it justice. ...well...except Re-Animator was pretty bad ass..
I agree, but I just watched the trailer and this movie looks funny as hell. If they keep up on the funny and skip "paul blart mall cop" type social commentary, I think it will be an awesome movie. You're right; Lovecraft is way too literary to be translated easily onto film. Uh, Dagon? I wanted to stab my own eyes out.
Holy shit Dagon killed me.... I think the closest thing... ever.. to doing Lovecraft ANY justice was when the studios robbed the idea for The Descent, and even they were smart enough to distance themselves from his story.... now seeing this is supposed to be a comedy.... Imma take the plunge and give it a watch with an open mind
Based on the screen captures, I've got a feeling that this isn't going to be a good movie. This is a shame, since I've been waiting forever for someone to make a good, reasonable-budget movie out of a Lovecraft story. Seriously, the guy was brilliant, and his work has all the components needed for a truly gritty, disturbing horror film, but no one has picked up on him. At least, no real attempts have been made. I've seen a couple of b-grade (or c-grade) movies with the Lovecraft name attached to them somehow, but they've been terrible.
the screen captures? you mean just pictures? ah c'mon u have to give it more of a chance than just a screen cap. that's crazy. watch it, u may have met the gaze of insanity of the great old one. i think u should give it a chance. i love ol' h.p, too and i know i will.

I am a lovecraftian fan. But the only lovecraft style flicks that intrigue me are the ones actually based on his stories. I don't know if a comedy cthulhu mix will work.
