Joe Dante (The Howling, Gremlins, The Burbs, Small Soldiers) is set to direct from a script by Charles S. Haas (Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Matinee).

Greg Berlanti (Life As We Know It) was previously attached as director.

Matthew Robinson (The Invention of Lying) was previously attached as writer.

Director of the 1960 original film Roger Corman, produces this remake.

The original film was turned into an Off Broadway musical, which would later serve as the basis for the 1986 remake.

This project has been in development since it was originally anounced in 2009 with Declan O'Brien (Wrong Turn 3 to 5) set to helm the pic. Back then he said it wouldn't be a musical and it would be dark and go a "different direction."

It's said that this is a "reimagining intended to jumpstart a new franchise."

This is a remake of the original 1960 Roger Corman film Little Shop of Horrors.
