PROJECT DETAILS
  • Originally had an April 13th 2018 then a February 22, 2019 theatrical release.
  • In a recent interview actress Anya Taylor-Joy confirmed that the film's delayed release is due to reshoots, rewrites, and apparently a new character being added. Here's what she had to say: "I do think that there is a great responsibility to make sure the movie is done right and that we deliver the fans something that they can all feel happy about and excited about. So, I don’t think it being delayed is a bad thing because it’s definitely more important to make sure that we get it right than rushing to make a date. So, hopefully, all of these reshoots and adding of the new character that will give the fans an altogether satisfactory, wonderful product." (3/12/18)
  • According to director Josh Boone they're aiming for a PG-13 rating, saying: "This movie is probably the hardest PG-13 ever made. I mean, we’ve pushed it. The horror is pretty dark, but there’s also an emotional core, too. If I can scare you and make you cry: that’s the goal." He also adds that the mutants in the film won't be wearing costumes: "There are no costumes. That alone makes it different. They can’t be with the other kids at the X-Mansion. They’re too f—ed up. They’ve all killed people, whether intentionally or unintentionally." (1/24/18)
  • Apparently the movie's release has been pushed back 10 months so the filmmakers can reshoot several new scenes to make the movie "scarier." Word is that a recent test screening "went well, but not great" so the producers are looking to focus even more on the horror aspect in hopes of capitalizing on recent successful R-rated horrors like Get Out and It. (1/14/18)
  • Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) plays Rahne Sinclair AKA Wolfsbane.
  • Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Split) plays Illyana Rasputin AKA Magik.
  • Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) plays Sam Guthrie AKA Cannonball.
  • Henry Zaga (Teen Wolf) plays Sunspot AKA Roberto da Costa.
  • Blu Hunt (The Originals) plays Danielle Moonstar AKA Mirage.
  • It's said that James McAvoy will reprise his role as Professor X.
  • Co-written/directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars).
  • Described as "a haunted-house movie with a bunch of hormonal teenagers."
  • This is said to be a "Stephen King meets John Hughes'-style horror movie."
  • Based on the Marvel comic book series with the same name.
