Reading about a possible remake truly angers me. It just goes to show that hollywood has lost all it's talent and cannot come up with something of it's own. I just wish we as americans would not be so lazy and watch foreign films. THERE ARE SUBTITLES AVAILABLE PEOPLE! (FYI NOT ALL OF US ARE LAZY AND CAN APPRECIATE A GREAT FILM SO KUDOS TO THOSE WHO WATCH FOREIGN FILMS AND ENJOY THEM FOR THE ART THAT THEY ARE)
That just makes me angry.
Del Toro's Orphanage was one of the best movies I've seen in years, the man is a master film maker and I've been a fan of his work since I saw The Devil's Backbone... I had hoped they would bring out this movie with English dubbing, but a remake, frankly, SCARES me! I keep thinking about the great foreign films that have been ruined by Hollywood (The Ring, The Eye, etc) and I just hope Del Toro keeps a close eye on the new director. I think he did a pretty good job on The Mothman Prophecies, so it might just work, but he's got his work cut out for him, trying to recreate a piece of Del Toro genius!
I totally agree, some foreign films are really good and shouldn't be remade in English. It's ridiculous.
my favourite spanish film is going to be ruined. Why do they have to remake it????? is it cos people can't be arsed watching the spanish version with subtitles?? the original is brilliant so there is no way this will be better. I wish the American film makers would just leave films like this alone now.
Is a remake necessary?
Pointless ...
