Piranha 3D
They’re back! Every year the population of sleepy Lake Havasu explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for a single, wild weekend - the 4th of July, a riot of sun, drunken fun and sex-crazed mayhem. But this year, there's something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers. Havasu sits in the crater formed by a prehistoric volcanic eruption, and when earth tremors tear open a crack in the lake floor, all hell breaks through.
Piranhas - a million ravenous, razor-toothed monsters, unchanged since the dawn of time. Unstoppable killing machines acting blindly under one primeval impulse: to hunt down anything that moves and strip it to the raw, bleeding bone. In seconds. As bodies start disappearing, beautiful, feisty dock manager Julie Tupper realizes the horrifying truth. The idyllic little town she calls home is facing unthinkable carnage, no one wants to listen... and her diving expert fiancé has gone missing on the water.

PROJECT DETAILS
- Had an August 27th 2010 release before getting a week push forward to August 20th.
- Originally slated for a July 24th '09 theatrical release before production delays forced it to be pushed back. It was then given an April 16th 2010 release before once again getting pushed to later in the year.
- Dimension Films is distributing.
- Porn actress Riley Steele plays a frolicking beach-goer named "Crystal".
- Original director Joe Dante was going to have a cameo appearance, but was unable to make the shoot due to scheduling conflicts with his latest film The Hole.
- Christopher Lloyd plays a piranha expert named "Goodman".
- Veteran actor Richard Dreyfuss has a cameo role in the film that will reportedly play homage to his character "Matt Hooper" from the 1975 film Jaws.
- Actor Adam Scott will play a "diver for the U.S. Geological Service who helps discover the piranha outbreak."
- Actress Elisabeth Shu plays "Sheriff Julie Forester, a take-charge authority figure in the community of Lake Victoria."
- Alexandre Aja (High Tension, Hills Have Eyes) will write and direct.
- A French company called Wild Bunch is behind this.
- Budgeted between 19 to 24 million.
- Canton and Toberoff will produce while Steve Barnett, J. Todd Harris, Vincent Maraval and Chako VanLeeuwen will executive produce.
- Chuck Russell wrote the script using elements of drafts by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger, as well as the original John Sayles script that Joe Dante directed for the original. That came from a story by Richard Robertson.
- This is a remake of the 1978 film with the same name.

UH OH! Looks like something fishy is going on! hahahaaaa ahhh I thought that was appropriate for this type of movie but no but seriously the description here says its 4th of July weekend but the actual trailer says its spring break, and we all know by now that 4th of July is in the Summer. OH BUT DON'T GET ME WRONG! LOOKS LIKE A FUN MOVIE AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!
looks bloody. looks violent. looks like women in bikini's. I AM SOOOO THERE!!!
100% agreed

I loved the original. It was corny as hell, but had a lot of good original ideas at the time. I hope this movie is all I HOPE it is.
I heard Tom Cruise signed on to do the Jaws remake, along with Daniel Day Louise to play Quints roll....is there any truth to this?

here's your truth
ALOT REMAKES KILLS THE ORIGINALS BUT SOME ARE WORTHY OF COME BACK TO REMEMBER THIS IS ONE OF THEM LIKE MIKE MYERS THEY WILL NEVER DIE AND ALONG FRIDAY 13TH , NOW BRING BACK JAWS SHOULD BE ONE OF THOSE REMAKES AFTER MAKING THIS FLIM COMEBACK. I remember watching the original about the same time they use to play Alligator all the time on TV (usually Sat afternoons). This is a film that could use a remake. Seems like pornstars are really trying to make it Hollywood. See what you started Tracey.
.
I've seen and liked the original Piranha.
The trailer looks pretty sweet, but *shrugs* I'll wait and see for myself.
see this is a movie that can me remade but its orginal sucked and is hardly known at all
Definetly looking forward to this movie! The trailer was great; who doesn't love seeing all those spring breakers turned into KFC of the sea? hehe And the cast is actually pretty good for this type of (cheese!) movie: christopher lloyd, richard dreyfuss, ving rhames? Not bad. Hard to screw up something that doesn't take itself too seriously to start with.
Well said, I don't get why I hear so much animosity toward movies like this; they are suppose to be THIS WAY...cheasy and you know, CHEASY. I think he'll do just fine with the remake; fun cast too...here is a FEARnet Exclusive Video Interview with the Cast & Crew of ‘Piranha’

More blood than Kill Bill?

HIGH TENSION was awesome and THE HILLS HAVE EYES was one of the best remakes. So I'm excited about this, but seeing some of the pics are simply great! I really hope the suits don't meddle in, otherwise it looks like it can be a great film.
The Hills Have eyes was my favourite horror movie since I was a kid and I was pretty happy with Alexandre Aja's remake... Now he's remaking another one of my old favourites, so I just hope he does as good of a job. I've loved everything I've seen of his so far, so I really can't wait to see this one!
im looking forward to seeing this movie, the original was pretty god and now a days bet this should b good, jst a bit worried bout remakes since a few of them have sucked bad (fog) for instanes. lets pray for the best!

Aslong as its cheesy like the rest were fine
yeah i saw the trailer when i saw avatar. looks like a decent, cheesey, fun film. i love the original, hope it's good.
looks cheesy and i saw it during avatar too. i didn't even know what it was until the second half of the trailer. i'm sure they did that on purpose but that's about the only thing that caught my attention.
saw the preview for this earlier today at the theater before avatar in 3d...it was in 3d too; i wasn't sure what to make of it, though. a couple shots were underwater with the fish darting toward the audience. maybe they're keeping things close to the vest, but i found it unimpressive...i don't typically react that way to any horror preview. oh well, we will see.......
shouldn't there be a at least a poster by now??
Anyone notice since 'My Bloody Valentine' that a new era of cheesy 80's remakes in 3D is upon us??? lol
I'll see it anyway, the new 3D beats the hell outta the old one any day and if this is what 3D fans gotta work with, then Pirahnna it is lol
gah! i remember the old one. That was awesome. Some one should make a second deep blue sea. With all the animatronics and stuff. God that would be cool.
Looks like everything is now gonna be 3D. Can count on a whole bunch of remakes in this new format i am willing to bet. This could be a good thing though. Girls face looks good to me.
