- Sam Mendes (Jarhead, Revolutionary Road) was attached to direct at one point.
- Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces, The A-Team) was rumored to direct.
- Rachel Talalay (Ghost in the Machine, Tank Girl) was once said to be directing.
- Adapted for the screen by John August (Big Fish, Corpse Bride).
- In development hell for years, this is one of the oldest projects listed in the UHM database.
- Based on the Garth Ennis' graphic novel about "an itinerant cowboy holy man with divine powers."
