The VP of acquisitions at Shout! Studios was quoted saying: "Remaking one of the seminal films of David Cronenberg’s early work is audacious, exciting and not a little nerve-wracking. But there are no better hands in which to place this challenge than the four belonging to the enormously talented Soska sisters." (2/20/18)

The Soska sisters spoke a bit about the film recently, saying: "We are very honored to have been the team chosen to take on the remake of Cronenberg’s ‘Rabid’. Normally, I’m not a huge fan of remakes but that’s if they don’t have anything new to bring to the story. We have a unique perspective just because of who we are to tell the story from Rose’s eyes as well as make a commentary on the increasingly rabid world that we live in. Also, we’ve been dying to get back into body horror. Ten years into David’s filmmaking career, he remade ‘The Fly’ and it brought him to this new level. This is ten years into our career and this will be our first film that gets a wide theatrical release, so it feels like a good pairing. We just have to make sure we don’t let down our country, our fanbase, and our hero. No pressure." (4/6/17)

Directors Jen and Sylvia Soska were quoted saying: "The work of David Cronenberg is legendary and ‘Rabid’ is much more than just a horror movie. The real message of his film is powerful, and even more pivotal as we look at the world around us today. It’s an honor to be involved in this love letter to his original, which we handle with the same respect as Paul Schrader’s ‘Cat People,’ Alexandre Aja’s ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ and John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing.'"

Apparently the producers are not only developing a feature film, but also a television series.

Directed by twin sisters Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary, See No Evil 2).

This is a remake of the 1977 David Cronenberg film with the same name.
