PROJECT DETAILS
  • Magnet Releasing will distribute the film in the US, likely via a limited theatrical and on-demand run.
  • You can follow the film's production via a Spanish blog located here.
  • Alternate synopsis: The action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight, giving the film an entirely fresh yet disturbing new reality. The infection has left the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies, this third part of the saga also works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment.
  • Actress Leticia Dolera ironically also played the reported in a [Rec] spoof segment in the film, Spanish Movie.
  • The virus in the film has reportedly "left the building" and it's said that the "action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight."
  • Director Paco Plaza co-writes with Luis Berdejo, who co-wrote the original [Rec] and made his directorial debut with The New Daughter.
  • It's said that the story will further explore the origins of the virus.
  • This film is a prequel that's said to take place hours before the events of the first movie.
  • The film will offer tradiational filming as well as the POV style we're used to seeing in the series.
  • The writing/directing duo of the previous two films Paco Plaza and Jaume Balagueró will solo-direct this and the fourth film, with Plaza taking this one while Balagueró directs [Rec] Apocalypse.
  • The second film still has yet to come to the US, but Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will distribute it on DVD (much like they did with the first).
  • The third installment in the popular [Rec] series.
