Riddick

"The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy."

PROJECT DETAILS
  • Wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista plays a character named "Diaz" who is said to be in "9/10ths of the film."
  • Alternate synopsis: Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
  • Jordi Molla plays "Santana," the arrogant captain of the mercenary ship.
  • Matt Nable plays "Boss Johns," a man looking for answers.
  • Bokeem Woodbine plays a bounty hunter named "Moss."
  • Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) plays the female lead known as "Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick."
  • Karl Urban is reprises his role as "Vaako," who was one of Lord Marshal's (Colm Feore) commanders in The Chronicles of Riddick. It's rumored to be a cameo role around the beginning of the film.
  • The project has been in talks for years now, but the delay was apparently due to Vin Diesel and David Twohy's insistence on a hard R-rating, which the studio apparently wasn't keen on. In order to move forward, the budget had to be relatively small (much like the first) and Vin agreed to "work for scale" which is the Screen Actors Guild approved minimum rate of pay for actors.
  • There will be a character named "Boss Johns" -- the father of "William J. Johns" who was the merc bounty hunter (played by Cole Hauser) in the first movie. Johns will be looking for answers from Riddick on what really happened to his son. A character named "Santana" will be Johns' subordinate.
  • A couple new characters will include "the sexy female merc Dahl" and "the smug commander Krone."
  • The script is said to offer a couple potential cameos from characters in the previous installments.
  • The Riddick character is said to be more "badass" and "brutal" than he was in the previous films.
  • Though this may have been a joke, Vin Diesel revealed that David Twohy wants his character to go through 3 body types throughout the film: "the DiNorscio type (where he gained over 30lbs for the movie Find Me Guilty), the Dom type (character from the Fast and Furious series), and the lean Furyan type (known from these Pitch Black films)."
  • It's said that we may see a little more background on a younger Riddick.
  • Originally had the working title The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking.
  • Vin Diesel returns as "Richard B. Riddick."
  • David Twohy returns once again to write and direct.
  • A game was released in 2004 that acted as a prequel to the events of the first film. The game was then remade in 2009 and included additonal story and content.
  • The third installment in the Pitch Black trilogy, not including The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury -- an animated feature that bridges the gap between the first and second feature films.
