  • Joey Morgan will play "the nerd in the group who is is secure in his comfort zone, but awkward to the rest of the world."
  • Tye Sheridan (Mud) will play "the budding honors student who is handsome and athletic but doesn't know it yet, still lacking the confidence needed to talk to girls he likes."
  • Previously titled Boy Scouts vs Zombies and simply Scouts vs Zombies.
  • Christopher Landon (writer of Paranormal Activity 2, 3, 4, and director of 5) directs.
  • Scribe Lona Williams (Drop Dead Gorgeous) is said to be working on a new draft.
  • Etan Cohen (Idiocracy, Tropic Thunder, Men in Black III) was originally going to make his directorial debut before getting replaced.
  • Originally Andy Fickman (Race to Witch Mountain remake, You Again) was going to direct.
  • Writers Carrie Evans & Emi Mochizuki are graduates of the Disney Writing Program, and got their first gig scripting 2008's College Road Trip starring Martin Lawrence.
  • This is a horror-comedy that's said to be in the vein of The Goonies.
