The Slender Man is a fictional character created in 2009 by someone named "Victor Surge" on a popular internet forum, where a contest was held to Photoshop supernatural entities into actual photos. The images depicted a very tall, pale, slender figure wearing a suit with no facial features. Under one of the photos there was a quote saying: "He is thought to be responsible for the haunting, stalking, and disappearance of countless children and teens." The creepy meme eventually transitioned to various shorts on the MarbleHornets YouTube channel, who also made their own Slender Man movie titled Always Watching: A Marble Hornets Story.
