After India's (Wasikowska's) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

PROJECT DETAILS
- Writer Ted Foulke is actually an alias for actor Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), who used the name, so people who read the script wouldn't also factor in the fact that he's an established actor. The script ended up being on 2010's "Black List," which is a list of the 10 best unproduced screenplays making the rounds in Hollywood at the time.
- This film marks South Korean director Chan-wook Park's (The Vengeance trilogy) English debut.
- This flick is described as a "horror film, a family drama and a psychological thriller."
- Though said to be loosely influenced by Bram Stoker's Dracula, it's reportedly not a vampire tale.
