PROJECT DETAILS
- It looks like Strike Entertainment may be pursuing a different route with the project, as a recent announcement indicates that an adaptation of the original short story, 8 O'Clock in the Morning is being developed instead.
- Production company Strike Entertainment plans to begin the development stages of this project in 2011, after they've completed a couple other films.
- It's said that they may remove the sunglasses aspect of the film and explore another element that would work in a similar manner.
- D.B. Weiss (HBO's Game of Thrones) is the first writer in line to script the pic when development begins next year.
- There's currently no writer on board.
- The original starred wrestler 'Rowdy Roddy' Piper and veteran actor Keith David, where the duo had an infamous 5-minute street brawl, which was later spoofed in a hilarious episode of South Park.
- Universal and Strike Entertainment are behind this, with Strike Entertainment producing, with Shep Gordon and John Carpenter executive producing.
- The obvious remake of John Carpenter's classic 1988 film.

Say what you want about THEY LIVE, but it was still a fun movie! It had Keith David and Roddy Pipper damnit! Their chemistry was what held the movie together! Gees!
There are TONS of really REALLY bad movies just waiting for a second chance to be good. BUT NO! Hollywood just has to go and fuck up a movie that doesn't need remaking! Shit! I'm so tired of the Rehashing.
I was originally beyond pissed about this stupid idea to remake everything that actually DOESN'T NEED TO EVEN BE REMADE, but at least John is producing it... hopefully he won't let anyone butcher it completely... HOPEFULLY.
Strike Entertainment needs a new hobby.
Heres an idea....Make "They Still Live" Why are they remaking this! Why dont they just make a sequel, which I would like to see, I dont want to see the same movie with things taken out, crap added, different actors.
Maybe people need to start boycotting these remakes, someone make make some kind of website or something.

How are they going to top that street brawl?
CGI and/or 3D, duh...
Carpenter seemed like we was really making fun of a blind society, who only sees what they want to see. I liked the fact, none of the actors were popular actors, but great character actors. Roddy was a popular wrestler, but not a huge actor. He did a great job. And Keith David is one of my faborite character actors.
Well to be fair. It is based of a short story called the 2 am club. They didnt use sunglasses they were smokers and the smokeing made them see the aliens..But we all know they won't do that in the movie.
Actually, you're probably thinking of "The Ten O'Clock People", by Stephen King. Unless he published it before under a different name and changed it for the Nightmares and Dreamscapes collection. Eiher way, good story.
The 10 O'Clock People was published in the early 1990s while They Live came to theaters in 1988.
Fuck! I don't want this masterpiece to be remade and it's not necessary...
PLEASE, PLEASE make the aliens look more than just skinless people! That was the worse part of the entire movie, but I love a movie whose hero is a regular tough guy. You know the kind of guy that is always depicted as all brawn and no brain. I can't tell you how many times I have been underestimated because I am a large brawny guy. Sometimes we have brains too. So pick a tough guy again. Maybe in following the Roddy Pipers wrestler turned actor - Dwayne Johnson. Maybe Vin Diesel. And give us more action too, because even with brains, tough guys still like to mix it up.
THEY LIVE - RODDY = CRAP.
Although i have not seen this film for years (its in my collection somewhere) i still remember this film with fondness.
I think in the words of Nada on the remake will be: That's like pouring perfume on a pig.
I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble-gum. And, I'm ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL out of Bubble-Gum.
Theres only two things I need to say about this, 1. Duke Nuke'em is hilarious, I thought he quoted Duke not the other way around.. but I was having troubles watching this anyways. 2. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the first one was so cheesy, why would ANYONE make a remake of this...
Although I did love the original lol.
"I come here to kick ass and chew gum... And I'm all out of gum!"
Classic movie, John Carpenter is the best at corny action/horror and they should definately get him back to remake his movie. While they're at it, I wouldn't mind a Prince of Darkness remake!
Glad to see someone else likes The Prince of Darkness.
loved the orig, i hope they get Rowdy Roddy Piper to do a cameo in here, plus alot of people dont know duke nukem was based of this character
Once again Carpenter movies should be left alone, Not sure why they feel the need for a remake here whats wrong with the original. I've always thought this film was ahead of it's time yeah it has some lulls and some people may find it boring but scratch about and this story is a terrifying tale of consumerisam (yeah i spelt that wrong?) and a new world order ushering humanity down a corridor of control. A remake could bring it up to date with world events, but this maybe the only thing it can bring to the table.
