The theatrical trailer for the American Film Market is finally viewable for all to see. Also a gory new pic can be seen below.

8/10/05
I've posted some art above to help promote the film's Toronto premiere with Rue-Morgue.

2/10/05
You can read about actress Wendy Kremer's experience at the first screening of the film here. You can also find some new behind-the-scenes photos there.

1/15/05
The film was screened in LA on Wednesday, where many attended. Sadly, I wasn't able to attend, but either way you can read a nice positive review here.

12/29/04
I've added a few new pics from the film. You can check more here.

12/08/04
You can read an interesting article that talks about how some of the structures were supposedly haunted and people experienced strange things during filming. Read it here. You can also read some early buzz on the film from Blood Feast producer David F. Friedman here.

11/05/04
Momentum Pictures has picked up the UK distribution rights, which will most likely give the film a limited theatrical release, followed by a DVD release. The film wont be shown to U.S. distributors until it's fully done with post-production and ready for the American Film Market.

Country-singer Travis Tritt has a small cameo role in the film, which until now wasn't exactly revealed, but recently he spoke with the Buckeye Country WSRW radio station, where he spoke candidly about the movie and his role he played. He was quoted saying: "In every good horror film, there is always one person who is the foreteller of doom, the guy who says, 'Don't go down to the lake, kids, that's where Jason lives.' I play an attendant at a gas station where these kids, who are out on an adventure, stop by. This guy looks like he could be related to some of the characters in 'Deliverance,' a pretty rough guy."

He continued... "And not only that, in a dream sequence later on, I get to play an extremely nasty, terrible version of that character. And that was the part that was extremely fun for me, where I got to dig down deep and find something in my imagination - the most disgusting, ugly parts of my imagination - and sort of bring all that to the surface."

8/31/04
Shivers Magazine had an extensive interview with actor Robert that went over his career and they brushed over 2001 Maniacs, which also contained a couple new pics (bottom-right).

8/27/04
You can check an article at the Horror Channel with director Tim Sullivan, where he talks about getting further funding to get back behind the camera and film additional scenes. Check it here.

8/03/04
According to Fango, Peter Stormare has joined the cast. He replaces John Landis' cameo role in the beginning as Professor Ackerman. Although Landis isn't entirely out of the picture -- thanks to DVD you will be able to see the shots of Landis as a deleted scene.

7/26/04
I spoke briefly with producer Christopher Tuffin, where he revealed that he among many are very pleased with the film, saying: "As for "Maniacs", things are going incredibly well.  I have never been around a horror film so highly anticipated by fans and the industry alike.  And trust me when I say that the end result is going to be more than worth the wait.  It is both scary and funny (like "Evil Dead").  A great job by director Tim Sullivan and his writing partner Chris Kobin, as well as by my fellow producers (Boaz, Scott, Eli, Brett and Bross) who busted their asses to make a great film.  It was an honor for us to follow in the footsteps of Herschell Gordon Lewis and David Friedman."

7/20/04
Producer Eli Roth briefly spoke with Fango recently, revealing a possibly November release for the film in festivals, and also mentioned that Kane Hodder has a small cameo in the film.

4/16/04
You can check my interview with director Tim Sullivan here. Expect some sweet official photos in the upcoming weeks!

In the recent issue of Fango there's a brief article on the film with a couple pics, which I've added to your right. If you want to see what the article says, you'll have to get yourself an issue of the new Fango. Meanwhile, I talked briefly with director Tim Sullivan where he gave me a short update on what's going on with the film. He told me that they're currently in the editing stages with editor Michael Ross, who was the same editor for Wrong Turn, and he's really pleased with the results so far. He also expects to have the film released sometime next year.

2/10/04
Added a new pic for the film that has the main cast and director Tim Sullivan (who you can see on the very top).

1/16/04
Director Eli Roth talked with CC recently where he revealed the status of the film...

"We just started cutting 2001 Maniacs this week, I'm really excited. I know many distributors are circling, certainly New Line Cinema, who is the strongest. They're dying to check it out. I think everybody's first taste of the movie will be at the American Film Market in February."

1/15/04
Sadly I had to take down the behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the movie due to legal matters, but expect some exclusive new stills soon!

1/12/04
I was sent a bunch of behind-the-scenes pics from the set thanks to Roll Tide. You can click the "more" link below the pics for even more behind-the-scenes pics. The first few you can catch Robert Englund rehersing and the rest are of the buildings, maniacs, and the "Bar B Cutes" -- they are all the blondes in the pretty flowered dresses. Why are they called Bar B Cuties? Well apparently they impale their victims up the ass with a screwer of some sort and fry'em up in the fire. Wicked stuff. If all goes well I'll get even more pics sent to me by another extra. Expect a lot of gore from this baby -- I was told one guy gets a huge screwer up the ass and outta the mouth by one of the lovely Bar B Cuties. Damn.

1/02/04
Country singer Travis Tritt has been added to the cast. You can see a behind-the-scenes still of him in action here.

12/22/03
Added a new pic thanks for Fango.

I was emailed from an extra in the film named Ehren, who revealed some small info on filming and small scenes. Here's what he had to say...

I'm working right now as an extra in "2001 Maniacs" starring Robert Englund which is being filmed in Lumpkin, Ga. It is very hard work though and alot of standing around or repeating a scene. We filmed last night from 6 pm to 4 am. I'm still a bit fuzzy on the whole premise because I haven't seen the original yet but I can tell you we had fire, half naked babes and severed heads. haha I'm not sure how my family and friends will react to seeing us act like a bunch of demonic rednecks singing "Yee haa...the south with rise again.." (haha) but I'm having a good time. Robert Englund is very nice. The actress who played Magda in "There's something about Mary" and also the nasty landlady in "Kingpin" is in it too. She's nice also. Everyone is.

He then went on to reveal more info...

Well, do you remember "The Fog" where ghosts return every so often for revenge on the town that caused their deaths? Well, this is similar. The ghosts of Confederates angry about how they were treated and how they died in the civil war return to take revenge on modern day "yankees." It will be pretty gory; there is a motorcycle stunt, etc. Robert Englund's character sports a pretty nasty eye/eye patch. Also, he told my sister that he will be working on a film with a certain Mr. Bruce Campbell soon. Hmm....I wonder what that could be..... :) Oh yeah, there is plenty of cleavage. Some of the girls were a bit aprehensive about their puffed out boobies but I assured them it looked spectacular.
