LATEST NEWS

6.26.08
Game creator American McGee had a Q&A with Alice producer Scott Faye recently, where it was revealed that the project is once again in "turnaround," which basically means the studio (Universal) is pretty much optioning it for another studio to pick it up if they chose to.

Scott also debunked rumors that Sarah Michelle Gellar was going to play Alice and Jean Marsh was going to star as the "Queen of Hearts." At one point Marcus Nispel was attached to direct, but that seems to have changed. You can read more here. Thanks to "J. Warner."

1.17.08
As I suspected, the last bit of news on Maggie Grace replacing Sarah Gellar was indeed false. In a recent interview with Radiofree, the actress revealed that she is indeed still playing Alice and is very enthusiastic about her role in the project. She didn't say much about the current status of the film, aside from it being a victim of "regime change in the studio," so it looks like the project is still on hold for the time being.

12.09.07
You can add this one to the recent pile of rumors, as word from a site called Pagesix reports that SMG is no longer starring in the film as Alice. Instead, she may be replaced by former Lost star Maggie Grace, whom was Marcus Nispel's supposed "second choice," according to the site.

11.30.07
You can treat this as a rumor for now, but HNR reports that pre-production will begin shortly in Langley, British Columbia, and Marcus Nispel and Sarah M. Gellar are still attached, with a tentative July '08 release date eyed. All of this information can be found in IMDB, which is likely where this news originated from, hence why it should simply be considered a rumor until something more concrete is revealed.

6.23.05
It is now confirmed that Sarah Michelle Gellar will be playing Alice, and TCM remake director Marcus Nispel is signed to go behind the camera.

3.09.04
Game-creator American McGee talked with IGN recently where he reveals that FOX has bought the films rights to the film and it's now in the pre-production stages.

9.10.03
Wes Craven talked with SciFi Wire briefly about Alice saying... "We never got a script that Dimension liked, so it's been pushed way back on the back burner."

DETAILS

- The project was originally owned by Dimension, but they dropped the project and FOX picked it up.
- Wes Craven and Marcus Nispel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre '03) were once said to be attached as directors of the project.
- Milla Jovovich, Eliza Dushku, Christina Ricci, and Sarah Michelle Gellar were all considered to play Alice.
- Based on the video game.

I really hope Tim Burton picks this up, I truly think that he would be the only person who could bring this to life with any sense of realism, good taste, and a dark enough twist on the story.
Just my opinion.

Well if Tim Burton picks this idea up and puts it into production he for one, is going to make his own version of the original story completely disregarding the game and two, he plans to make the first part of the film, before Alice falls down the rabbit hole live-action and the second part, where she's in Wonderland, claymation!

"tim burton has lost it" i dont think so buddy i think youve lost it. SWEENY TODD was great and i dont eaven like musicals.any way they should disregard the game compleatly its a videogame not a film. start over compleatly. seriously it kinda ruins the story knowing its adaped from some braindead junk. and keep this film a no cg zone please. SILENT HILL might have been a remotely deasent film if half of it wherent a *** ing cartoon.
