IMDB and Amazon have an updated synopsis for the film, which reveals more details on the storyline and the background of Billy, but since there's no way to prove its validity at the moment, it'll have to be treated as a rumor. Here's what's posted: The movie tells the story about Billy, a young boy who was abused by his mother as a child. While his mother was cheating on Billy's father, she eventually killed his father and kept Billy in the attic - for good, while she was with her lover and starting a "new" family. As Billy's mother fell pregnant with a daughter and treated her with love, which Billy had never experienced with his mother, Billy came out of the attic after years and brutally murdered his mother and her lover. Cut to present day, a group of seven sorority sisters consisting of Kelli (Katie Cassidy), Dana (Lacey Chabert), Lauren (Crystal Lowe), Megan (Jessica Harmon), Claire (Leela Savasta), Heather (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)and Melissa (Michelle Trachtenberg) and their house mother (Andrea Martin),who now live in Billy's childhood home, find themselves being harassed by threatening and intimidating mystery phone-calls during Christmas Break and as one of the girls goes missing, the girls begin being murdered one by one by no other than Billy. Thanks to "Lies8745".

Also, there's a brief blurb about Michelle Trachtenberg's character in a week-old summer article over at MTV. In it she reveals the following: "My character is sort of like a sarcastic, alcoholic bitch, and she gives the killer a run for his money." The article (along with IMDB and Amazon) also state that it'll be released in November, which may mean the release has been moved forward from the reported Christmas date.

Crystal Lo and Lacey Chabert has been added to the cast. Also, various details on the film were revealed by the cast over at the Zap2it site. Apparently a chunk of the film will follow the killer Billy's character as a kid, where we can expect murder and forced confinement. Read more here. Thanks to "Ken".

A handful of young faces have been added to the cast. You can expect that with a cast like this the movie will most likely be going the PG-13 route.

The director to the original film briefly spoke with the guys at Moviehole about his various projects and brushed over the BC remake. Here's what he has to say about the project and director Glen Morgan and producer James Wong: "They’re clever writers and I think they’re delving into, the obvious thing, Billy, and getting into his backstory and getting into being how he was what he was. It’s going to be rather spectacular. They’re doing a remake, but with a partial sequel feel to it. 2929 are producing it, the Weinstein’s brothers are producing it…but I’m staying away from it. I mean, I like them and we get along great, but it’s their film". He also mentions how he'd like original star Margot Kidder to have a cameo in the film.

Dimension Films will distribute the film Christmas '06. Hopefully they wont release it to only 200 theaters or only promote it the week it's released like they like to do with their horror films.

Bob Clark spoke with Icons of Fright a little over a week ago on various projects, one of which was the upcoming Black Christmas remake. Here's what some of what he had to say: "In the original, It was never my intention to reveal the killer's identity or backstory. It was bold and some people didn't appreciate it. When Warner Bros. bought the movie they tried to talk me out of it & into making more of a concluding finish. As you probably know 2929 has bought the rights to Black Christmas...They are remaking it with Glen Morgan and James Wong. Glen has finished his script and did a sensational job of creating the backstory, I don't want to give too much away but, pursuing what was being implied in those phone calls... quite horrible things that happened back then. They should be shooting in the fall."

The Final Destination duo of James Wong and Glen Morgan producing, with Glen writing and directing.

12/29/04
Tim Sullivan at Shock and Roll spoke with actor John Saxon a bit about the film, you may remember him as the sheriff in the original. Here's what was said: "Well, they are finally making a sequel to BLACK CHRISTMAS. When I say “they”, apparently Bob Clark is acting in a supervisory capacity as an Executive Producer, but these two guys are making the film, two horror guys, and its gonna be their baby. When the DVD was done in Canada, I was asked to go up there and do commentary. The guy who had the DVD rights started the whole concept of a sequel."

When asked if he'd be a part of the new film, he replied.. "Bob would like that, but I don’t think even he knows what exactly the sequel will be. Maybe it will actually be a remake, like what you did with 2001 MANIACS. It definitely won’t be what Gus Van Sant did with PSYCHO. Now, if it was up to me, I would adapt characters that existed. Margot was killed, so was Keir, leaving Olivia and myself. I fantasize a development some thirty years later evolving from the circumstance that they had both been involved in. Something that happened then draws us together now. Olivia’s character was pregnant, so she would have a daughter or son out there. And that would figure in. And since the killer was never found, my ideas are predicated on the killer’s true identity."

Fango spoke with producer Paula Devonshire recently, where she revealed the status on the film, among other details. She was quoted saying... . "The writers are just working on a new draft right now. It’s still in the early stages of development. We do want to really fast-track it and get it ready to be shot in late winter/early spring of next year, so very early 2005 is probably when it will go before the cameras. That’s one of the projects we’re just kind of going full speed ahead with, though there is no director on it and there’s been no casting done yet. But I believe that once the script is in a position where it’s presentable, and is ready to be sent out everywhere, that people will be attracted to it, because it is such a well-known, classic horror film that people will hopefully want to be attached to it."

She also went on to say that original director Bob Clark isn't attached to the film, but since it's still in the early stages that doesn't mean he wont have some kind of role behind it. Lastly she was quoted saying this about what we may expect: "[It] is actually quite different from the original. There are certain aspects and characters that are the same, but the setting and the circumstances are a bit different. So there will be some surprises and new things in there for die-hard fans of the first film."
