A release date has been set and the DVD cover art for the direct-to-video is posted above. Thanks to "Aurelia".

Actor James Purefoy spoke with ScFi Wire about the film and gave some details on what to expect. Here's what he said: "How would you pitch it? You'd pitch it as ... a cross between Rosemary's Baby and The Omen, with me as John Cassavetes. It's scary. It's a horror movie. What can I say? I made a movie a few years ago called Resident Evil. People said, 'What is it? What is it?' I'd go, 'Well, it's a zombie movie.' It was a zombie movie. It's just one of those movies. I'd go see it."

He then went on to say... "I really liked the script for this film, Blessed. I thought the script was terrific. I really enjoyed reading it. I thought they had a great relationship, these two central characters. So I did that because I liked it."

Star Andy Serkis briefly spoke with SciFi Wire about his role, saying... "I play this Italian priest who's sort of a bit of a detective. It takes place in this community in which there's an in-vitro clinic, and this couple can't have a baby, so they go to this community. Everybody's working for the people who run the center."

He then talked about how the title for the film was changed because it was too similar to Rosmary's Baby... "I think if they called it Samantha's Child it would have been a little bit too on the nose, perhaps."

Andy Serkis has joined the cast and briefly talked with SciFi Wire about his role saying... "It's grounded in this notion of an [in vitro fertilization] clinic and the community that surrounds that, and the medical world. So it's less satanic and more supernatural."

He then went on to describe more about his role as a priest who hunts down possessed mothers... "You're not quite sure if he's a religious freak who goes around murdering pregnant women because he believes that they're carrying the spawn of Satan, or whether he's onto something for real."

The title has been changed from Blessed to Samantha's Child. Andy Serkis talked with Fango recently about his part, saying... "I play this priest. It's set in an intravenous clinic and the community around it. Without giving too much away, you're not quite sure if my character's a religious freak—whether he just wants to murder pregnant women or whether he's onto something and is spiritually guided to do the right thing."

When asked how close exactly is the film to Rosemary's Baby, he replied... "There's many similarities, but it's much less Satanistic, I suppose. It's more to do with modern-day medicine. It's good and it's a really cool script."
