BloodRayne

The plot for the game is about a half human and half vampre called Rayne, who was raised and trained by a secret agency to hunt down supernatural threats around the globe. In this prequel to the game (set in the 18th century) she'll make an attempt to overthrow her father, Kagan -- king of all vampires.

I've added the official poster art at the top right. Also, you can view a handful of new pics below.

Witness the disaster before it's released! "Enjoy" the clips located here. Also, according to SciFi wire, the film initially received an NC-17 rating by the lame-ass MPAA, but after several cuts, it will be released under the appropriate R-rating. It seems the biggest cuts had to do with bodies being sliced in half -- a signature move in the game. You can expect an uncut version on DVD.

8/29/05
January is the date set to witness the latest Uwe Boll disasterpiece.

7/27/05
The official site has gotten a revamp, along with the addition of a couple new trailers.

Director Uwe Boll spoke with Fango recently about his various projects, one of which included BloodRayne. Here's what he had to say:

"BLOODRAYNE is totally different from ALONE IN THE DARK and HOUSE OF THE DEAD; it is more of a classical vampire movie. It is also a ‘knight movie,’ like BRAVEHEART, and set back in the 1700s, with big battle scenes. It was interesting to hear what the actors said about it during shooting. Michael Madsen called it ‘the PULP FICTION of the period piece’ [laughs]. The huge amount of major actors we have in BLOODRAYNE makes every scene interesting. For instance, we have a scene with Meat Loaf in a whorehouse with 10 prostitutes [laughs] and we have Billy Zane as the competitor to Kagan, played by Ben Kingsley. They fight over control of the kingdom. Michael Madsen, Michelle Rodriguez and Matthew Davis play the vampire hunters, and cult actor Michael Paré plays the film’s weapon and armor guy. We even have Udo Keir as a monk—so it is a very interesting group." It seems to me like Uwe Boll thinks comparing the movie to films like Bravehart and having a number of familar faces in the cast will make the movie good. Poor Uwe.

He continued...

"I think it will be R-rated, and it is more brutal than ALONE IN THE DARK from a gore standpoint. It is a very dark movie, but also beautiful in a way, because of the big landscape of Transylvania, where we shot. It looks great, because we shot in widescreen and only used original locations. It was a very hard and tough shoot for the actors because the food was shit and there were no good hotels [laughs], but we had those gigantic castles and a landscape that looks like LORD OF THE RINGS. We could really use what we had there in the country, and it’s not going to be CGI where everything looks like fantasy. Then when you have vampires coming into these real locations and sucking blood from people, I believe that is far scarier than shooting something at Universal Studios."

Director Uwe Boll likes to hype up his films in hopes that others will follow. According to a recent interview he claims the film will be better than the Blade movies and Underworld. With his previous work and the promo trailer for the film, somehow I doubt that. You can read his rantings here.

11/02/04
Crazed director Uwe Boll spoke with IGN recently about the film, where he was quoted saying a lot of things along the lines of it being a better film than Underworld and the Blade movies. The man is obviously attempting to give the movie some early hype, but he's only setting the viewers up for a big letdown. You can read the full interview here.

10/27/04
As some may know, a promo teaser for the film is in the new BloodRayne 2 game that was released some weeks ago, and a fansite managed to post it online. You can check it by clicking the link on your left.

10/26/04
Apparently Meat Loaf has a role in this film, which just finished wrapping.

GolbalArnold conducted an interview with star Kristanna Loken recently, where they go over T4 and BloodRayne. Check the video here.

The official site is updated with new pics. I've added one of the pics showing Rayne gettin' her vamp on. You can check it on your right, while you can check the rest here.

9/01/04
Star Kristanna Loken spoke with Dread Central and revealed a little back-story on the film, along with delivering a couple pics to the site. You can view the pics to your right, and here's what she said: "She is the daughter of the lead vampire, the lead bad guy Kagan, and her journey in the film is just becoming what she is. She knows she is a little bit weird, a little bit off, but she doesn't quite know why. So this is basically her transformation in finding out the truth and coming to terms with it and dealing with all the repercussions." Apparently Rayne is orphaned at a young age, and joins the circus, *sigh*.

8/18/04
Michael Madsen (Kill Bill) has been added to the cast.

8/10/04
Insomniac Mania spoke with director Uwe Boll, where he revealed a couple new cast members and details on the film, which you can view on the very bottom.

8/03/04
T-3 actress Kristanna Loken has now be cast as the lead chick herself Rayne. Filming begins in August in various locations in Romania.

7/21/04
Director Uwe Boll briefly spoke with Fango recently, revealing the status of the film, saying: "...
the cast isn’t confirmed yet. I always like to wait till the last moment with the actors. The script is great. It’s character-driven and very dark. Jessica Alba passed on it because it was too brutal." I guess Alba is too busy making box-office flops like Honey to touch a project like this.

7/18/04
Added the "official site". Also, in a brief interview with director Uwe Boll he states that production will begin August 16th in Transylvania and we can expect the Brimstone guys and Kagan to make an appearance. You can read the interview here.

3/05/04
Filming begins this August in Vancouver, Canada according to HNR. Writer Guinevere Turner was quoted saying,"I'm thrilled at the opportunity to bring this character to the big screen - she's hot, she's pissed off, she has special powers - what's not to love?"

1/05/04
Variety reports that director Uwe Boll has managed to get $47 million together to help finance both video game adaptations Bloodrayne and Dungeon Siege.

9/05/03
The president of Majesco (the game's company) was quoted saying...

"BloodRayne is one of the select interactive entertainment franchises that transcends the video game genre and appeals to mainstream entertainment audiences. With its unique blend of action, horror, and sex appeal, BloodRayne contains major crossover potential and we are continuing to explore additional licensing opportunities."

Director Uwe Boll adds... "We think BloodRayne is a dynamic, compelling anti-hero and a contemporary, smart standard bearer for the genre. We look forward to bringing her--and the game--to life on film."
