Sylvain White (I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, Stomp the Yard) is set to direct the film, which is scheduled to begin shooting later this Fall in South Africa and Romania.

4.02.07
Paul W. S. Anderson has left the project as director, but remains as writer and producer. Thanks to DC.

11.09.06
Rogue Pictures has joined the $50-million dollar project and will distribute through North America. They're currently scouting locations in Hungary and Romania, with hope to begin filming next spring. You can view some early artwork above, thanks to BD.

7.01.06
Writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson spoke to IGN about the film, revealing more details on the story and what more fans can expect from the game-to-film adaptation. Here's what he had to say:

"It's going to explain how the Belmont clan and Dracula first come into contact, so in a way, it's going to be a genesis story of the clash between the Belmonts and Dracula. It's going to span the ages as well, which is one of the fun things about the games. There are Castlevania games in the 1500s, there are Castlevania games in the Second World War, there are Castlevania in the future, and we're going to take the same kind of approach. It's going to be a very mythic story spanning hundreds of years, but the key characters are going to be Dracula and Simon Belmont. And the whip is going to be intact, although there'll be lots of other weaponry as well." He also added how he'll keep the goth and romatic look of the game and incorporate it into the movie.

I just hope they'd start it with the setup of Lament of Innocence and if they could, maybe finish it with Symphony of the Night... or if they can't then atleast make it a good movie for cryin' out loud millions of gamers and fans are hoping that you people wouldn't destroy a classic like what happend with RE

I'm hoping that this movie will be a compelling as the games storyline. If this move goes as good as the first RE and AVP did (in my book they're good i don't care about anyone else's opinion) then this movie will be a success but, on the other hand, there are alot of die hard castlevania fans out there who wouldn't care about the quality just as long as they got to see a movie about the Belmont clan.

Paul, you took everything that was cool about RE and AvP and took a crap all over it Please, please, please dont mess this one up. Rather than popping in game references "for the fans" why not do the right thing and capture the appeal that the game brought. We do not want the paul anderson version of castlevania. A faithful translation of the game onto film is what the fans want. You have got 50million, im sure you can do this if you really try. The story is simple and can easily make an awesome movie. The atmosphere and the adventure is what makes this series so great.
As far as Leon and Walter... yuk. Its all about Simon and Richter and good old Drac. The series went downhill when Igarashi took over...weep.

Ahh my good man while Leon Belmont is indeed the origins of the vampire killer whip and the origins of Dracula Vlad Tepes he is not as well known or as highly reknowned as Simon Belmont. Take into consideration that the first clas that was "released" was Simon Belmont and Dracula, what is happening is logical. Also, take into consideration that if this movie sells then you just might get a story that contains Leon Belmont.
But for that to happen you have to understand that all the 3D Castlevania movies are fairly impossible to release in themselves without making a movie that is nothing but a live-action version of the game. To correctly show the origin of the Vampire Killer whip and the origin of the beginnings of Dracula Vlad Tepes would take place over the entire movie. Nobody wants that. What they do want is the traditional no longer 8-bit Simon going toe-to-toe with Dracula and a track of his generations showing from there on.

I got a question. Y are they not using Leon Belmont, He was the first to fight the vampires. If i am not mistaken the vampire's name was Walter Bernhart
Leon Belmont: The earliest known member of the Belmont clan family. He is the protagonist of the game. A crusader knight in 11th-century Europe, he is betrothed to Sara Trantoul, and fights alongside the cunning Mathias Cronqvist. When Sara is kidnapped by Walter Bernhard, he renounces his title of Baron and ventures alone into the Forest of Eternal Night.
Just a question
