Cinescape posted a report where a scooper spoke with director George Romero about his current and upcoming projects, and he revealed the following: "he says he really wants to get this movie made and that it's still on the plate but that it's unusual concept has made it a hard sell. But he says he's ready to go on it whenever he gets the greenlight."

In an interview with HorrorWeb, director George Romero was asked if he'd work on this film after finishing Land of the Dead. He was quoted saying: "I'd love to. That's going to depend though. The producer of that film, a guy named Andrew Gaty, he's got – it's amazing, stuff happens all at once. Right after we made this deal with Atmosphere, literally within a week, Andrew called and said I think I've got the money for Diamond Dead and I had to say oh wait a minute, we're already doing this deal for this other deal. So it will depend on whether the money sources will wait for me or go an make the movie with another director. In which case it might still use my script. But I'd love to do it, and I hope they wait for me."

Director George Romero has put this film aside to work on the fourth addition to the Dead series called Land of the Dead.

According to Producer Andrew Gaty over at the official site, him and Romero are in a bind whether they can choose to work on this film or Dead Reckoning first.

Director George Romero updated his part of the Diaries section on the official DD site. He talks about how he got started on the project and also briefly mentions other projects that he's currently working on, including Dead Reckoning!

DETAILS

- Japanese director Takashi Miike was attached to the project somehow two weeks ago, but has declined any further involvement since.
- Asia argento was slated to play Aria DeWinter, but backed out.
- Production was set to begin early '04.
- Richard Hartley (Rocky Horror Picture Show) will compose the music for the film that Brian Cooper wrote the lyrics to.
- This is a black comedy.
- Andrew Gaty is producing.
- Zombie veteran George Romero rewrote the script.
- The script was originally written by Brian Cooper.
