If you think you'll be able to catch Diary of the Dead at your local theaters, you may have to wait a bit longer, as it appears it's only receiving a limited release, which will likely expand over time. In the mean time, if you wanna see if you're one of the lucky cities that'll get the flick, click here.

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and received a lot of positive reviews from viewers, and to make things even better, The Weinstein Co. have purchased the US and Mexico distribution rights for a cool 2 to 2.5-million. No word yet as to what kind of release the film will get. Lastly, you can head to the trailers area (which is still being reworked) for a new clip of Romero speaking about the project.

DETAILS
- Filming is set to begin October 11 in Toronto.
- Budgeted at a little under $5-million.
- It's said that the film will likely be very Blair Witch-esque with footage primarily being seen through the eyes of a camcorder.
- This will be Romero going back to his low-budget roots, with the idea of possibly even releasing it straight-to-DVD, where he'll have more freedom to do what he wants.
- Produced by Romero-Grunwald Productions and Artfire Films.
- George A. Romero will write and direct this.

whoever wrote the script needs to look into his stuff a bit more, tho the scripting in this film was much better than some other recent horror films (cough cough mother of tears). and george romero as a director did a great job and im proud of this. i just hope his new film solitary isle or woteva has some better scripting.
"Despite being shot in the POV of the camera, the footage itself is actually pretty clean and almost movie-quality, which kind of defeats the purpose."
The cameras they're using are digital, and the people filming are *film students* - of course it's going to be better quality than the Blair Witch Project or Cloverfield. I'm actually glad it's quite crisply done, because I go to the cinema to see a movie, not a collection of home videos.
Some of the acting wasn't fantastic, but it was compelling, and as the review states, it has some great deaths and even better zombies (the nurse zombie's cool, as is the clown). Far better than Land, and the remakes of Dawn and Day.
