The Curse of El Charro

About four college girls who are terrorized by the spirit of El Charro, an evil 18th-century land baron who slaughtered the family of a young woman who had spurned his romantic advances. One of the coeds is apparently a reincarnation of the old object of his desire, leading El Charro’s ghost to commit a bloody rampage.

I got an email from director Richard Ragsdale, where he revealed that he wasn't behind the release of the pics or trailer, saying that he had "nothing to do with it" and feels "like it really misrepresents the movie".

Here's the email: "I just saw the horrid pictures on your site-they are really bad candid photos taken on set by our script supervisor. I gotta tell you that they in no way reflect the quality of the movie. Our film actually looks very good (in my humble yet biased opinion). Our dp [director of photography] was [the] very talented Jacques Haitkin - the dp from the first two Nightmare on Elm Street movies. The movie is actually in many ways an homage to the exploitation horror films of the 70s and 80s most of us grew up watching. Its character based like the Nightmare/Halloween/Friday the 13th series and has a number of set pieces that draw from that era. There is also a good bit of the cheeky kind of humor you find in those movies. It also has stylized sections that draw on the german expressionist film movement of the 20s, including an animated interlude made to replicate a silent film. I hope I am not giving too much away, but there are many more surprises."

"It features Andrew Bryniarski (Leatherface from the recent Texas Chainsaw remake), Lemmy (hell yeah!), Calico Cooper (Alice Cooper's daughter), Tabitha Stevens, and Danny Trejo. we are just now in the process of putting the finishing touches on the movie (cutting the final sound design elements and doing a 5.1 mix in the next few weeks). I would like to distance myself from the trailer on the american world site - I had nothing to do with it and I can't stand it. I feel like it really misrepresents the movie. but those are the guys are trying to sell it so I guess they know best. Also the synopsis on their site is not very accurate. We are gonna put up a web site soon that will have a cooler trailer and better photos and information . Anyway i really hope you guys like it - i think its pretty kick ass and will be a lot of fun for horror fans."

The movie has been completed and you can now view the trailer (link on left). I've also added some behind-the-scenes photos of the El Charro character and a bloody room on your right. You can view a lot more here, but be warned some are very spoiling. I dunno if it's just me, but that El Charro character looks like a half-assed version of the Creeper from Jeepers Creepers, but hopefully he'll look better on film.
