LATEST NEWS

8/28/07
The film is opening next Friday to a limited number of local theaters throughout the US. You can check the list of what theaters will be carrying the film here.

8/02/07
Check the trailers area for the newest trailer that premiered at Comic-Con' 07, courtesy of MTV.

7/01/07
UPDATE: I had to remove the link to the trailer since it was supposed to have just been for a foreign sales meeting a year ago that somehow found itself online.
I've added an awesome new gore-filled trailer. Thanks to "Manuel".

6/23/07
Originally rated NC-17 by the lame MPAA, after months of continuous submissions, it has finally received a R-rating for "strong bloody horror violence, sexual content, nudity and language."

2/26/07
The new trailer is available.

2/05/07
Anchor Bay has moved the release to September.

12/25/06
Anchor Bay will release the film theatrically nationwide in April.

9/08/06
Fango reports that Anchor Bay is in negotiations to acquire the film and that it'll get a regional theatrical release before hitting DVD. Though, according to Adam Green the film will definitely get a wider release than what Fango's report has made it seem. Regardless, don't expect to catch this film until sometime next year.

4/16/06
I've added the second poster abvoe and a new pic below.

4/08/06
The Tribeca teaser trailer is now avaible for download, although there isn't a whole lot there to see. For those interested in checking the film when it screens you can check the schedule here. Also, you can check one of two new posters above, which was first posted at DC. The other poster (along with this one) will debut on the official site within a few days.

2/07/06
You can view a behind-the-scenes teaser clip here, and a new gory pic below. Thanks to Fango.

9/05/05
The film is done and will shop for distribution, although the targeted Halloween release seems unlikely. You can check a new still below courtesy of DC.

7/27/05
I dunno how I missed this, but the official site posted some new photos a while back. You can view'em on your bottom right.

6/20/05
DC got a small new pic for the film, as well as Fango posting a teaser pic of the villain (both can be viewed on the bottom). Also you can check a behind-the-scenes clip here.

6/08/05
I've got a handful of pics for the film at the very bottom of the page, courtesy of BD and DC.

4/12/05
Horrorview reports that Tony Todd, Robert Englund, and Richard Reihle have recently joined the cast.

2/10/05
You can check a couple pics of stuntman/actor Kane Hodder getting some prostetic work done for his role as the killer here.

12/14/04
You can read an interview with director Adam Green here. In it he goes over Kane as the lead and story-details. Here's a little snip-it for the story: It’s about this boy, Victor Crowley that grew up deformed in the bayou of Louisiana and was taunted by kids. Well one day, these kids went to his house and started taunting him with fireworks and set his house on fire. Victor’s dad comes home and tries to save him, but when he goes to break down the door he chops into Victor, killing him. After Victor’s dad dies it becomes an urban legend that you can hear Victor crying for his father in the swamp at night. A group of people go on this haunted swamp tour in Louisiana, and well, bad things happen. It’s funny because the whole idea for Hatchet I thought up when I was 8 years old and at camp. The counselors would always try to scare the kids by saying “Don’t go there or Hatchet-face will get you!” and I’d always ask “Well, what’s he gonna do?” And they’d say “He’s gonna get you!” And I’d say “But what’s he gonna do?” So one night I made up this elaborate story about Hatchet-face and made all the kids cry. They wanted to kick me out of camp. But ever since then I’ve been like “I have to see this character!”

11/10/04
The official site has been up and running for a little over a week.

8/13/04
I've added the teaser trailer, which can be viewed by clicking the link on your left.

8/05/04
I've added the official site, which will premiere a teaser trailer for the film on Friday the 13th.

Well, I just bout this movie ($9) and I'm a bit disopointed. It's not that it's a bad movie mind you, it's just not the movie I thought I was going to see. With all the talk going around, I expected a some what scary slasher movie. This was not that, in fact, I laughed through most of this film, which is fine, I love cheese horror films I can laugh at, it's just that's not what I expected from this film. Yes, there is a lot of gore, but the throwing buckets of blood around everytime someone got hurts was a bit much for me. One the pluss side, the DVD has some great behind the scene stuff with Kae scaring the crap out of the crew.

I agree with what Professor Chaos said! One thing I've noticed with quite a lot of people they hate almost every horror film which comes out. They seem to hate ghost flicks because they copy the japanese, they hate PG-13 flicks due to the lack of blood, they hate 80's homage flicks because of the over-the-top use of blood and that it's not original, they hate horror/comedys etc. But mainly these guys are on IMDb who want every film to be original, scary, gory, great acting etc...end of rant, those sort of people REALLY piss me off

Why does everyone hate this movie? This movie was exactly what it set out to be: a gory slasher flick not to be taken seriously. Yeah, it could have been better, but it was still good.

First off, all you people who didn't like this movie are probably scream fans. This was a homage, nay a throw back to all the great slasher films of the 80's. Humor, sex and gore. what else do you need in a slasher film, they covered all basis's to satisfy all TRUE HORROR FANS. not the new school scream fanatics. This movie was up there with Sleep away camp, and slumber party massacre. even greats like texas chainsaw dude, I recommend this movie to true fans of the genre. I personally enjoyed this film and it will be in the top shelf of my dvd collection.

This was a good movie in my opinion. The premise was a little bit of a rip off of Friday the 13th, but the gore and acting helped make this more enjoyable. It's one of the better films of 2007 I've seen, along with 28 Weeks Later and Halloween. The actors brought good humor to the film and the killer was just as ruthless as old time killers from the 80's. It left an opening for a second Hatchet, which I personnally wouldn't mind; hopefully it will have even more gore in it and a higher body count. 8/10

I agree with bits and parts of what some of you are saying. I saw this movie last night and did LOL to certain scenes. The acting was sub par put what did you expect from a script like this. I started to put this DVD up for sale on EBay after 1 watch and then I stopped. I need to watch it again I guess. It was o.k. nothing great, nothing I would tell my friends "you have got to see this movie." I rated it a 6 on this site and that is probably a little high.

Hatchet is not a great horror film compared to horror like The Exorcist or even The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) but honestly it is a fantastic "slasher" by todays standards. All the people that are hating this film...what exactly are you comparing it to? Among todays slashers ex. Venom...Hatchet really stands out, its completely original and fun, and actually respects the foundation of what slasher greats are. But seriously, it is an all out slasher, it doesn't have high standards to begin with, bad horror could be, bad slasher not even close.

You can't combine comedy with horror??? What is that? Horror and Comedy go fantastic together, a good dark comedy is a rare gem in the industry, and when done correctly is a superb find.
