LATEST NEWS

2.17.08
It seems that the script French director's Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury turned in at the studio wasn't exactly what they were looking for, so word is that writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Feast, Saw IV) have been hired to pen another draft, according to STYD.

2.09.08
The film's release date has been set once again, this time a few months behind the previous date: January 9th '09.

1.28.08
Box Office Mojo reports that the film's September release date has been removed from the schedule, and now has an undetermined date.

12.06.07
The film has received a September 5 '08 theatrical release and will supposedly bare the title Clive Barker Presents: Hellraiser.

10.12.07
Twitch spoke with the French writers that'll take on the new script recently, where the duo revealed that (once again) claiming it isn't a "remake," but a new film, and with a new Pinhead. Of course we all know that Hollywood doesn't like to use the term "remake" regardless of whether it is one or not. They added that Clive himself is 100% behind their take on the project. You can read more here.

10.07.07
Although UHM doesn't normally report on rumors, I thought I'd mention this one as it's backed up by various online outlets, and may prove valid -- word is that the project is now on the "fast track" with French filmmakers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury (Inside) on board and reportedly set to rewrite and direct. Clive Barker will still remain close to production. Hopefully official confirmation on this will be posted soon.

10.27.06
Added to the database.

DETAILS

- Filming is hoped to begin sometime in the Spring of '08.
- Originally set to have a September 5th '08 theatrical release.
- Fully titled Clive Barker Presents: Hellraiser.
- Now being written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Feast, Saw IV).
- French filmmakers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury (Inside) wrote the first script, which was based on a treatment by Clive Barker, but the studio declined it.
- It's unknown whether Doug Bradley will return as Pinhead.
- The Pinhead in this film will be different from the one we've grown to love.
- Clive said that he plans to have this to be both the beginning and end of Pinhead.
- This film will have an obviously bigger budget, with hopes to do things that the original could never do.
- The Weinstein Company is behind this.
- Clive will only serve as producer, as he was detailed saying that he'd feel too weird to direct a remake of his own movie.
- This is a remake of the classic 1987 Clive Barker film.

Why would they remake this?!! Clive Barker should have said, you know what, let's NOT remake one of the best, original horror films ever. Then we wouldn't have our younger generation of people being like, wow this movie sounds really good, and totally forget the original!! Plus, this movie is going to get the same reviews as the new Halloween did, 1 to 2 stars, because I have a feeling it's just going to be the same movie, but only remade, which was why the new Halloween received its rating!

I dont think the script will cal for that unless he's gonna play a mental patient or a victim needed so Frank can regenerate. I mean, wouldnt Frank like to be hung like a brother? Lol. It could be an interesting movie at least. But no Doug Bradley? C'mon! He IS Pinhead!
