Mangler: Reborn

The story follows a man who takes the cursed antique parts from the original Mangler and builds a machine that is the ultimate hell. He's eaten by the machine and spit out as an incarnation of the machine. The only way to survive without decaying is to feed the machine.

Lilja's Library got a hold of a couple new pics for the film; one of which shows the look of the new machine (shown on right), and UHM got a few more behind-the-scenes pics of the cast.

4/29/05
A little more detailed plot has been posted above thanks to Erik Gardner, who also gave UHM the following update: "We just finished a cut and are locking it this weekend. Watching it really gives you a sense of dread. Right now we're searching for a composer and are talking to the guys who did Session 9. Compared to the first 2 Manglers. This one is a total tangent into another world." He also sent over a few pics, which can be viewed on your right. You get to see the Mangler house as well as a shot of Weston Blakesley, who plays our "insane man" this time 'round. The last pic is of the writer/directors Matt Cunningham and Erik Gardner with actress Juliana Dever.

CC had a talk with director Matt Cuningham and Erik Gardner, where they revealed various details on the project. Instead of copying most of what was said, you can just check the whole thing here.

3/31/05
You can check a set visit at Dead Central.

3/09/05
I've added a couple familiar faces to the cast. It's said that a number of suprise cameos will be in the film. Supposedly they plan to have as many genre cameos as their budget will allow. Shooting is scheduled to begin this week in British Columbia.

2/11/05
The directing duo of Matt Cunningham and Erik Gardner had an interview with the Arrow recently, where they revealed various details on the project. Here's the duo talking about the new machine: MATT: "It’s kind of this hybrid machine created by Hadley Watson who happens to be a washing machine repairman. He likes to take antique things and put them together. So he tries to put together a new machine that is going to be built from parts of the original Mangler (from the first film)."

Continued: "...he becomes obsessed with building this machine and the machine eventually eats him and spits him back out. As a result, he becomes an extension of the machine."

Erik went on to say: "What specifically happens is that he’s wrenching on the machine, his shirt gets caught and he gets sucked into the machine. The next time you see him you know that something is amiss. He starts decaying throughout the movie and you know that “Oh Shit” he’s gonna have to find humans to shove into the machine and rejuvenate himself."

Writer/director Matt Cunningham briefly spoke about the film here, where he reveals what fans can expect, saying: "[It's] going back more toward the concept of the original Stephen King short story with a few little twists in there. It's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets a J-Horror film. Real dark and gritty." I've also changed the title to the tentative one you see above.
