Man-Thing

No official plot, but the story
for the comic is basically about the Man-Thing, which is a vengeful
creature born from the evil and injustices perpetrated against both
man and nature or in other words a pissed off Swamp Thing.

Moviehole ran
a recent report where actor Ian Bliss talked with a magazine briefly
about the film and his role in it, saying... "It
sticks pretty close to the Marvel comic which was a rather cult comic.
Its essentially about a swamp creature and stays quite true to
the darkness of how it was drawn in the comic. I play an alligator hunter
who patrols this big swamp with his brother. Jack Thompson is involved
and he would be the highest profile actor in the piece. What theyve
done is not attach any name actors and filled it predominantly with
Australians in an attempt to let the film work on its own merit,
to allow the film to be a bit darker and riskier than the bubble-gum
comic book adaptations weve seen recently. They hope it works
for the film but it could also work against it."

Got an email from someone who claims to have seen a rough cut of the
film. Here's what he said...
"Saw a rough cut of Man Thing the other week,
and although it was not finished, it is pretty dam impressive. It looks
like a 100 million dollar movie. Brett Leonard has created a fun, fast
paced scary movie, full of suspense and stunning visuals. The "Man
Thing" creature and special make-up effects, created by Make-up
Effects Group, look awesome. As does the cinematography and visual effects.
The cast give strong performances, and the movie will deliver... Beware
Swamp Thing..."

The guys at Comic
Continuum talked with producer Ari Arad about the film and posed
the question on how Man-Thing will look on film, saying... "There's
positional stuff happening on location, on the set, but at the same
time the stuff you don't currently see in camera was always engineered
to be enhanced by digital effects. So when you see the movie, hopefully
the line is pretty blurry. It's not an all-CG creature." So
I guess it'll be a mix of CGI and live-action.

Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad was quoted saying...
"'Man-Thing' has been an unbelievably exciting
project for us. We have always felt that this character's story would
translate incredibly well to the big screen as it mixes horrifying action
with a truly mesmerizing and frightful anti-hero. Brett is seen as one
of the true pioneers in the creation of revolutionary computer-generated
and mechanical effects and we now seen first-hand why. His powerful
creative vision has helped bring this character to life in a thoroughly
compelling manner - so much that we have decided to fast track it for
release next summer, fully confident in its worldwide appeal."
Artisan Entertainment Executive Vice President Patrick Gunn then added...
"Uncharacteristic of the typical Marvel characters
brought to life on the big screen, 'Man-Thing' brings a chilling component
not previously showcased in Marvel comic based films. We feel this film
impressively introduces 'Man-Thing' in a manner that will really thrill
the viewing public."
